What's your opinion on gender roles?

I think they are destructive. Just like labels are. Not only do gender roles separate us as just humans, but it gives this false ideal about what is important to women. There should be আরো in a woman's life other than worrying about if she's going to have kids and get married অথবা not. Then, even worse when she fails, she thinks of herself as worthless, lonely and useless.

I am a girl who doesn't wear makeup and who has short, pixie hair. Some people say there must be something wrong with me, because "I look like a boy." I can't tell আপনি how frustrating that is. Just because I don't like makeup, and I like short hair, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with me. I know girls who are overweight, and people give them crap for it. But it's wrong. Not all girls have to be skinny মডেল সমাহার to be beautiful. (And why is it that people can call girls beautiful, but when people call guys beautiful it's weird? I don't get that...)
It also frustrates me when I see those "What Girls Want Guys To Know" lists, because they tend to be extremely sexist, to both girls and guys. It's like the girls who write these lists see themselves as princesses and guys as macho servants to tell her how gorgeous she is and to beat up anyone who annoys her. It's extremely sexist. In my opinion, a healthy relationship should be one where they both make each other happy, not just one way, and where they are equals to each other; there is no dominant figure. (Also, it's annoying when girls think that guys who cry every once in a while are weak. Guys have feelings too! Why should they be afraid to প্রদর্শনী it? It's perfectly healthy to cry once in a while.) Also, people always think it's weird if in a relationship between a guy and a girl, the girl is taller than the guy. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as they প্রণয় each other! But people say "but it's wrong!!!!!" I know guys who are dating girls a বছর younger than them, and everyone says it's cute. They just like to do things other than sports and such. There's nothing wrong with it. I heard that once, a little boy decided to go to his preschool class in a dress, because he liked it. His mother was a little worried about what the other parents would think, but thought he should be able to like what he likes, and there's nothing wrong with it. So she let him. The teacher and all the other parents flipped out on her and told her she was a horrible mother. Meanwhile, none of the other little kids cared; to them, a dress is a dress: anyone can wear it, and it's perfectly fine. It's really sad, because it shows that it's our society that stresses these gender roles. It's really quite frustrating.

It's silly because these chauvinists who try to enforce these gender roles don't see how these gender roles were destroying the sweet patriarchal society they tried so hard to keep up:
-Enforcing gender roles means that the women lose all of their independence and free-thinking, which in turn will:
*Destroy the economy because if women don't learn new skills to obtain jobs, they won't be hired and when the man leaves the প্রথমপাতা for some selfish reason, they won't have enough money/purchasing power, and poverty arises while production lines slow.
*Gives আরো rule to rapists and incestors (?) than they have today, putting আরো barbaric sexual immorality into society than "the crazy sexual liberation of women". This gives rise to overpopulation and genetic dysfuntions.
There're more, but I can admit to not being able to think about it (unlike chauvies).

Exactly. I have a female friend that's very masculine and I'm a very feminine guy. What's wrong with that? Why can't society accept certain people for being themselves; and just stay out of most people's lives?
