Michele Clapton shares ‘Game of Thrones’ designs and secrets at the Hall of Faces

can stroll through many elements of Arya’s journey in the epic fantasy series. Fans can wield Arya’s blade Needle before the doors of the House of Black and White, place their own erstwhile mugshots in the famous Hall of Faces, and of course, sit the Iron Throne.
Also in the Comic-Con exhibit are several costume elements from the series. Arya’s undercover Braavos garb, designed by Michele Clapton, is on display in all its incredible detail, as are as robes worn by Jaqen H’ghar and the Waif.
In addition, fans can cast their eyes over a sparkling new collection of jewelry designed by Clapton. Inspired by Daenerys Targaryen, the intricate silver pieces bring Dany’s regal fierceness into everyday life. (Or at the very least, a few special occasions.)
“[I] had this idea that it would be great to do a collection based around her stuff, because I think she really appeals to young, modern, contemporary women,” Clapton says. “There’s that feistiness and that strength, and I think it works well.”
“[Daenerys] is one of the characters that actually appeals to both men and women, and I think that’s quite interesting.”
One of the pieces, a circlet of dragons, was drawn directly from the designs Clapton contributed to season 6 of
. Daenerys wears the piece around her hand in the concluding moments of the season. “I love the versatility,” Clapton observes. “And it’s got attitude!”
Clapton also notes that the strong jewelry and clothing follow the arc of Dany’s story as it develops through the series. The Targaryen queen ended season 5 clad in white “to show this purity and removal from the fighting pits, which she hated,” Clapton says. But by the end of season 6, Dany is wearing a deep charcoal gray — a shift that is entirely intentional.
“It’s not quite black,” Clapton notes. “It’s just sort of going that [Targaryen] direction a little bit. I just want this sort of strength… and I wanted the embroidery on her to become more metalic and stronger.”
“It’ll be interesting to see the direction she goes in next season,” the designer teases.
Clapton, who took a hiatus from lead design work on this past season, will return for
“I’ve just started prepping on 7,” she says. “We always do it the same, we read the storylines and we design accordingly, so everything should make sense to where they’re going. And sometimes it foretells things.”
But though Clapton notes that Daenerys’ striking hand-wrap will probably be worn into the next season, she could only drop the barest hints about what may be seen in
“I quite like jewelry that isn’t just too traditional. I like to take it further,” she says. “I was looking at this wonderful cage that can sit on shoulders, and I was thinking I’ve got to do — I’ve got someone in mind, but I’m not sure if I’m going to do it or not… I’m going to see if I can work out a way to do this for this one character, but I can’t say!”
But that’s all right — if the dark and thrillingly creepy Hall of Faces at San Diego Comic-Con proves anything, it’s that a little mystery can make things very exciting indeed.

is currently in production and Stephen Schwartz revealed at Comic Con that the film will feature plenty of new songs!
Warm up those vocal pipes and get your best “Defying Gravity” cape dry cleaned, the
film is gearing up for production at long last! The Broadway hit, currently in its 13th year, has had audiences clamoring for a filmed production since Idina Menzel Kristin Chenoweth brought Elphba and Glinda to life. Now, that dream is becoming a reality, but probably not with the original cast.
At the CW3PR’s 8th Annual Behind-The-Music: Crime, Death and Resurrection Panel at Comic Con, Stephen Schwartz the man behind the music of
appeared to announce that the film will feature songs both old and new. The “old” of course includes songs from the stage production such as “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and most likely, “One Fine Day.” But it also includes songs that were written and cut from the production before its Broadway opening.
Winnie Holzman will be writing the screenplay as she also wrote the book to the stage show based on Gregory Maguire’s novel. Stephen Daldry (

Now its time to start some casting speculations! It is my hope that the casting director sticks with strong Broadway talent to carry the roles. The musical has enough of a following to garner a strong viewership, but it also wouldn’t hurt to throw Menzel and Chenoweth in for a cameo or two!

There’s a lot to unpack in this poster, which features Newt and a brightly lit “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sign.
Newt is looking over his shoulder in the middle, holding a wand in one hand and a suitcase (with a beast trying to get out!) in the other. Supporting characters Graves, Jacob, Queenie, and Tina appear in the wings. Also here: Our very first looks at two female characters. We believe the one in the bottom left is Mary Lou, played by Samantha Morton. The guy on the right is Credence played by Ezra Miller.
So what’s with the American flags? They’re not only to remind fans that the movie is set in New York — We believe they’re teasing an election of some sort. The last
trailer briefly depicted a political event (See a screenshot below). We’re guessing an election will be taking place over the course of the movie with possible ramifications for the well-being of the North American Wizarding World.
