To be honest I can't really tell the difference between the two. Am I a horrible HP fan? It just seems like their personalities are so similar. Sigh. I love them both though.

It's logical that Fred is the favorite - JKR wrote it that way. Fred has always overshadowed George, therefore it's more likely that he's the favorite. George always took the backseat in their relationship (notice how we never heard about George & Fred?). Next time you re-read the series, pay close attention to them - you'll notice it too. This also explains why she chose to injure George but kill Fred - Fred was easier to grow attached to, it would've had a different effect if she'd butchered George instead.

OMG DarkSarcasm... i totally agree... i have always liked Fred better... he's the funnier twin, and more of a leader... its so funny... becuase charactor wise i've always like Fred better, and phisically i think that James (Fred) is better looking, and dont give me that "they're twins so the look that same" crap, becuase they dont look that much alike... George has a thinner face and a larger nose, Fred's face is a little fully, and James is really photogenic, he come out better on film.

when Fred died i swear to God i cried so hard... but if it had been George i wouldnt have cared taht much... sad huh?

I can't pick between them. I'm an identical twin and nither me or my sister take a backseat in our relationship. People who know us (i hope) would hate to choose who is better between me and my sister.

He seems sweeter, slightly more mature and more laid-back. Fred's awesome as well though :)

He seems funnier and he seems more of the bad boy type. Or maybe more of a trouble maker. George seems sweeter and more kind. I don't know. Fred grew on me me a little more then George did. I guess I like Fred more then I do George for some reason.

i cried so much when he died, btu i dotn just liek him more bc he died, he was my fav character, ya mroe than george, when i read books i pay close atteention & whn u pay close attention fred is a lot funnier & his sense humor was a bti darker than georges, i just noticed this whn i re-read the 6th book, so idk if it was like that in all the books

I really don't know: in my head they're always Fred & George, not two seperate characters.
So I choose Fred based on the fact that I cried when he died.

I love them both to pieces, but I do love Fred more, I'm not 100% sure why. (Though what DarkSarcasm and iluvtheoc said is completely true,(especially that bit about James) and is part of the reason I like Fred more.)

I think it is to do with the fact that their personalities are slightly different. Fred is a bit darker with humour, he is mentioned slightly more, he he's a bit more humorous. Whilst George is almost the moral compass of the two of them. (Remember the blackmailing scene in the Goblet of Fire book?) He's usually the one providing slight sympathy between the two.
What's strange about this is that give their personality types, usually, George would have been the one I would have liked the best. (I tend to like the sweeter guys.) But still, Fred is my favourite.
