"THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD" (2000) Review

As many অনুরাগী of Agatha Christie are aware, one of her most highly acclaimed and controversial novels is "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". I had checked the Internet to see how many adaptations had been made from well-regarded tale. I was surprised to learn there were at least seven adaptations, considering its difficult plot twist. The third to the last adaptation proved to be the last adaptation was the 103-minute টেলিভিশন movie that aired on ITV's "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT" in 2000.

"THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD" seemed like your typical Christie novel....

"HERCULE POIROT'S CHRISTMAS" (1994) Review

I have been a অনুরাগী of Agatha Christie's 1938 novel, "Hercule Poirot's Christmas" aka "A Holiday for Murder" for years - ever since I was in my early adolescence. When I learned that the producers of the "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT" series aired its adaptation of it back in 1994, I looked অগ্রবর্তী to watching it.

Written as a "locked room" mystery, "HERCULE POIROT'S CHRISTMAS" focused on Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot's investigation of the murder of Simeon Lee, a tyrannical patriarch of a wealthy family. The mean-spirited Lee, who had made his fortune in...

If আপনি have never read Agatha Christie's novel, "Taken at the Flood" অথবা seen the 2006 টেলিভিশন adaptation, I suggest that আপনি read no futher. This review contains major spoilers.

"TAKEN AT THE FLOOD" (2006) Review

Written in 1948, Agatha Christie's novel called "Taken at the Flood" told the story of the Cloade family in post-war Britian, who depends upon the good will of their cousin-in-law, Rosaleen Hunter Cloade; after her husband and their cousin is killed in an air raid during World War II. When her controlling brother, David, refuses to share Gordon Cloade’s fortunate, the family enlists...

"DUMB WITNESS" (1996) Review

There is a belief among অনুরাগী of the "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT" series that the episodes and টেলিভিশন চলচ্চিত্র that aired between 1989 and 2001 - ones that featured Arthur Hastings, Chief Inspector Japp and Miss লেবু - were আরো faithful adaptations of Agatha Christie's novels that the আরো সাম্প্রতিক ones that have aired since 2003. I do not know if I agree with this opinion, especially after viewing the 1996 টেলিভিশন movie, "DUMB WITNESS".

Screenwriter Douglas Watkinson's script আরো অথবা less remained faithful to the 1937 novel's main narrative. Surrounded দ্বারা grasping...

"APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH" (2008) Review

Looking back on the number of Agatha Christie movie adaptations I have seen, I find it surprising that only a handful of Christie titles have been adapted for the চলচ্চিত্র অথবা টেলিভিশন আরো than once. One of those titles happened to be the author’s 1938 novel called "Appointment With Death".

The most well known adaptation before the 2008 one had been produced and directed দ্বারা Michael Winner some twenty years earlier. Released in 1988, the movie starred Peter Ustinov in his last appearance as the Belgian-born sleuth, Hercule Poirot; and is not considered...

"CARDS ON THE TABLE" (2005) Review

Most Agatha Christie অনুরাগী tend to regard movie and টেলিভিশন adaptations of her novels with a kindly eye. Especially if those adaptations closely followed its literary source. Not all adaptations have done this, including "CARDS ON THE TABLE", ITV's 2005 adaptation of the author's 1936 novel.

I have always wondered how Christie অনুরাগী regarded "CARDS ON THE TABLE". I suspect many Christie অনুরাগী would not regard it as a close adaptation of the 1936 novel. Also, the story turned out to be one of those mysteries of the "locked room" variety that many অনুরাগী sometimes...
