What is it with people and swearing?


My teacher has a piggy bank that আপনি have to pay if আপনি ever utter a word that is considered to be a swear. I really don't like it when people are so fanatical about keeping language "clean" like that.
Remember when no one ব্যক্ত Voldemort's name and Hermione ব্যক্ত that doing that only increased the power that the word had on people? I feel the same way. They are just words. The meanings of words change over time. Swears do not hurt anybody, even when used as insults. If a little kid starts swearing for fun, reprimanding him will only reinforce that behavior. Ignoring him like it's nothing to care about is what will make him stop such a pointless activity.
Words like fuck, shit, and cunt don't mean anything, yet why do people freak out about them?

This is a good point - language is something that humans created for communication purposes and many people consider swearing to be 'bad' now, though a lot of people still use swearwords when they are annoyed. I personally think that they are words and any word can be made into a hurtful statement, it doesn't have to be a swearword; therefore people should just watch what they say to others, instead of worrying about who to swear in front of and such.

It's just that calling someone a dumbass অথবা saying something like fuck your mama and all sorts of other names have nothing to do with anybody. nay insult is just that person's way of saying they don't like you. No matter what words made into swears really mean nothing.

yeah but they could mean something to that person thats why u should keep some stuff to your self no one has the right to judge others because they didn;t feel what the felt in there হৃদয়

Curse words in general don't make a person unintelligent. It's when they use a chain of swear words in an argument that makes them seem unintelligent. It's all they can think of to use instead of actual arguments.
