Turkey was names after 'Turks' people who lived there since 1300s during the Ottoman Empire. Don't know why North Americans named the bird, 'Turkey' tho.
Some say because of Turkish traders/sellers back in 15th century they used to sell the bird and shit.. So to add to the video Türk = a person of turkish nationality. So yes,Turkey is the country's name in English.
