1. In case you weren’t aware, Taylor Swift truly embraced the season of goodwill and spent her Christmas carefully selecting fans on Tumblr before buying, wrapping and sending them gifts. The fans then filmed themselves opening their packages.

2. Earlier this week, Swiftie Lucy Ashton uploaded a video of herself opening her package from Taylor.

3. While most of the comments were positive, there was one from an anonymous user which was not.

The user left the following comment underneath the video: “UR UGLY TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST.”

4. However, it wasn’t long before Taylor herself waded in to defend her fan.

She left a comment simply saying: “NO, ANONYMOUS. NO.”

5. Taylor went on to call Lucy the “cutest human ever born.”

6. BuzzFeed spoke to Lucy, who said that Taylor’s response brought her to tears.

She told us: “I honestly was so shocked. I didn’t even know that she was online. I responded to the message and it didn’t really phase me as much as the anonymous person had hoped I guess. I logged off and a couple of minutes later, I came back on and saw that she had responded and stood up for me. I immediately started crying and contacted all of my friends that I had met through Taylor and Tumblr. There was definitely just a lot of crying and smiles that night. And fangirling with my friends.”

7. She went on to explain that knowing that Taylor supports her fans brings her a sense of comfort.

Lucy said: “Her support means everything to me. I’ve supported her for eight years now, and to know that she knows me, a teenage girl who just blogs about her, and to know that she always has my back, means everything to me. It definitely gives me a sense of comfort.”
