Vampire Diaries Mystery: What Is Enzo's 'Connection' to Lily Salvatore?

Fortunately, that’s exactly what Thursday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c) is all about.

“We finally get to discover the truth about how Enzo was turned into a vampire, which is exciting,” Michael Malarkey tells TVLine. “We have a little flashback episode which delves into all of that, and his connection to Lily Salvatore.”

And you can bet that whatever Enzo and Lily’s connection is — some fans are already speculating that he’s a secret Salvatore brother, though I think that might be a little premature — it’s going to have a major impact on Enzo’s relationships with Stefan and Damon.

“There’s going to be this element of being torn by his friendship with Damon — who’s a bit of a loose cannon by the end of the season — as well as his friction with Stefan,” Malarkey explains. “It ends with a prospect of this connection that Enzo has with Lily and what they’re going to end up doing together.”

Enzo’s flashbacks are triggered by a conversation with Sarah, as she “turns the tables on him” and forces him to confront his past. But don’t start ‘shipping Enzo with the Salvatores’ great nice just because she’s getting him to finally open up.

“Poor guy’s got quite a bit of baggage,” he admits. “Getting into a relationship with someone might be a little forced at this stage in the game, but if there was even an inkling of that for him, it might be a grounding force. He could probably use a good woman to keep him from his wily ways.”

As for his soon-to-be-former co-star Nina Dobrev — I don’t know if you’ve heard, but she’s leaving the show — Malarkey says he’s “really going to miss her,” especially the “great energy that she brings to the table.”

i thought enzo was older than damon by more than 50 yrs so how can he be damon’s brother?

When we first heard of lily, it height that her and Enzo were Gemini witches (twins) and that is why the coven created a prison world. She was one of ther own!

That would make for an amazing storyline!! But then I can’t have Enzo n Sara as a couple. Oh well, you Gemini storyline beat the hell out of them being a couple storyline!

I could imagine Lily being the one that turned Enzo as he’s been a vampire much longer than Stefan and Damon!

yeah but when stefan and damon were young lily was supose to be dead how do we know she didnt cheat on damon and stefan dad before stefan was born bc he was like 5 or 6 when she was burried

i think enzo is damons real father and thats why he and stephen do not look alike and also why Mr salvatore had a chip against damon bnecause he KNEW the damon was Enzos

also i really think also that is why Enzo hates stefen so much because he was mr salvatores son

All the comments are bloody cool.From being a brother to lily’s twin to being damon’s Dad!! can’t wait to see what they got cooking for enzo.However he is connected I hope it is good enough to be expanded to season7.They should also give him a surname and details on where he got his daylight ring cos according to The Originals its not easy to acquire one,you need a witch with the right spell!!

ok i want Damon and Enzo to be matwrnal twins that Lily was pregnant with before Guseppi, guseppi only let her keep one and sent the other one away they are Gemini twins and guseppi hated the supernatual in turn Lily hated guseppie for taking her other child… damon and enzo have a bond because they are twins… Lily and enzo have a bond because shes his mom. and enzo is jealous of stefan because he got to live with damon and lily
