I still think eating himself made sense. The flesh would just regenerate adding to his food source.

With drowning I guess it would cause brain damage but does a healing factor fix that? In Cable and Deadpool it is implied that it wouldn't. Wade's head gets ripped off and Bob has to put it back on before Wade suffers permanent brain damage (or I guess more severe brain damage). I don't know that'd be an interesting one to try.

What would happen if someone ate him? I guess it would depend on how much chewing was involved because if he's swallowed whole he can easily break out like in Messiah Complex. Maybe he would just pull himself together at the other end.

I remember once seeing something about what would happen if Kitty phased through his brain.

I agree with eating himself too. I mean, the whole point of healing factor is that it regenerates after most physical injuries. It is essentially a self-inflicted injury comparable to Laura's cutting.

Well, with drowning, the most brain damage would have been due to lack of oxygen, so I feel like it would just have to get some oxygen enriched blood up to where it is supposed to be and it would take care of any bruising or anything else on the brain that would cause the damage.

Hmm, that Kitty theory would be interesting to explore, though more with me considering the usually father-daughter aspect of their relationship.

What if by drowning the part of the brain that controls Logan's healing was damaged? That could prevent him from healing himself or maybe the brain is just so complex and necessary to survival that there is only so much a healing factor can do for it. There's something blocking it like the thing that prevents the Summers brothers from being affected by the others' powers (which wasn't there something weird about Vulcan that made this not apply?).

It's kind of like how Wolverine is one of the only people who can take down Phoenix even though he is one of the people who cares most about her (if it's Jean). Now we just need that to be the end of the Dark Wolverine Saga. Kitty powering through her emotions and destroying him. That's actually really fitting considering I first heard this theory when discussing the Evolution episode where Logan gets brain washed by the creepy doctor and Kitty has to snap him out of it. People were wondering how the hell they got the microchip out of his brain and why he would need bandages afterwards. I liked the theory that Kitty just short circuited it but that brought up the idea of what would happen if she let her arm solidify in his brain. Seems like you'd get a weird "The Fly" situation at least.

I was looking at Cyclops' profile (BTW, the Vulcan thing is listed as a genetic flaw on Scott's and Alex's parts, not Gabriel's, which I find a bit strange) and I found this under weapons :

"Cyclops was given the Muramasa Blade, an enchanted sword with a piece of Wolverine's soul with the ability to negate superhuman healing factors. Cyclops received the sword from Wolverine, who told him that the sword was the only thing that could permanently put him down should it ever be needed. Cyclops wielded the Muramasa Blade once against Wolverine's son Daken, after he and the X-Men decided to kill him. Daken turned out to have been setting them up however, and stole the sword from Cyclops."

Looks like Marvel needed to assure themselves that Wolverine could be killed.

Marvel always has to leave a back door for themselves. That's good though because if there was no chance of Wolverine dying where would the suspense be. Though I guess that's kind of stupid to say about comics since even if you die you're just as likely to come back in a year or two. How do we keep reading them even without such suspense? Knowing that no matter how injured or dead someone is there is a likely chance they will eventually come back. Though I guess the same thing could be said of Doctor Who. I guess the stroylines are just that good.
