France, oh god I felt so sorry for him when I read about Jeanne D'Arc. How he can still smile and act so happy, just amazes me. He's been threw so much, his strength and willingness to go on inspires me. I have also felt really bad for England, when he said "It's ok, I'm used to being alone" poor baby. :( There are a lot of other characters I feel bad for the list could go on forever. Russia, China, Japan, Italy, etc.

Good question. The character I pity the most is Prussia. He always pretend that he's happy being alone but he's actually pretty lonely and sad about it. And losing his status as a state/country only makes it worse. Another one is England. Of course the American Revolution was a tear-jerker. He was once the greatest Empire but now everyone left him to live their own lives. That goes the same with Russia. And I also pity England for being the subject of a lot of... how should I call this... obscene images that would surprise you in some fanmade videos and even in strips - somewhat ruin his wholesome image. Another one is HRE. Nobody knows what exactly happened to him after the war. Although I still have hope that Himaruya will confirm that HRE is Germany.
A, your right. The Jeanne d'Arc strip... that was a tear-jerker too. That is one side of France that will make you realize some good things about him.

Tinekraut: Sadly, It turns out HRE is dead. In a scrapped strip by Himaruya, France broke the news to Italy that HRE was no more and urged him to forget about him and move on. Historically, the actual Holy Roman Empire was dissolved by Napoleon after its last emperor, Francis II, was defeated in war and surrendered. This has lead to speculation by fans that France had killed HRE and was informing Italy of his death, possibly out of guilt

I still can't help but believe on the possibility that Germany was HRE. That strip was rejected. There must be a reason for deleting it. If not then why would it be deleted when it could have been included together with the canon strips if Himaruya really finally decided to make it a canon? Moreover, if we would refer to history, HRE indeed was basically German Empire established by German monarchs (expanded by annexing other territories.). And what is Germany now is, in the west, the unified territories of what remained of the HRE after its dissolution, plus the former Prussia in the east (that just follows with how Prussia calls Germany as West.). In the series, the other territories which composed HRE have their anthropomorphic representations (i.e. Feliciano. Roderich, Prussia [it was an HRE territory before], etc.). How about Germany/the German region of the HRE, who represents it? It could be that the kid named HRE was the German region/Germany who became an Empire by having Ita-chan, Roderich, Basch, and the others. And when the time of dissolution came, the territories went their separate ways, leaving the German region (which could be represented by the kid HRE) by himself. No longer an Empire, the kid could have been renamed as Germany, but with his memories already lost. If you look at it, HRE and Germany they do resemble each other a lot. HRE looks like someone who could be Germany as a kid. Even if he had survived though, the pitiful thing is that he did not end up with Ita-chan the way he wanted to.

I've felt bad for many.
Romano - Always being placed second when it came to him and his brother.
Canada - Mostly invisible towards others.
France - Jeanne D'Arc was burned to death (and I heard that she was his first love) but was still able to live on.
England - During the American Revolutionary War, I felt bad for his since America was parting with him even though he was trying not to.
Prussia - He is no longer a country.

Principally Russia, along with other things than his childhood and Russian Empire era, the grudge he got against USA that initiated the Cold War and finally ended in another separation from his beloved ones.
