Dear Mark,
Let me just start off দ্বারা saying that I have been a dedicated, loyal অনুরাগী of One বৃক্ষ পাহাড় since দিন one. Granted (and with all due respect), I am one of the অনুরাগী who prefer seasons 1-6 much আরো than seasons 7-8, and I haven't been particularly thrilled with the direction that the প্রদর্শনী has taken over the past couple of seasons. But nevertheless, I kept watching every episode... out of pure loyalty, and the curiosity of how the প্রদর্শনী will be wrapped up. For the past eight years, the প্রদর্শনী really has changed my life, and the lives of many others. It's meaningful messages, and powerful storylines that us অনুরাগী can relate to really have had a lasting effect on us. And for me personally, I also credit quite a bit of that lasting effect to the characters Lucas, and Peyton.
I think back to the দিন when I was first introduced to the show, and I can't help but instantly think of Lucas, and Peyton. Just like I can't help but instantly think of them, whenever I think of the প্রদর্শনী in general. To me, and to so many other people, these two characters ARE One বৃক্ষ Hill. Whether it be them as a couple, অথবা just as individual characters, they just have so much heart, and depth to them. They bring a certain realness, and magic to the প্রদর্শনী that in my opinion, no other characters can touch. Milestone episodes such as the pilot, and 3x16 "With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept" just would not have been the same, অথবা as heartfelt, without them. Just like the series finale, and সামগ্রিক final chapter of the প্রদর্শনী will not be the same, without them.
Despite all of the new characters that have been introduced over the past couple of seasons, we are still hanging on to Lucas and Peyton. Clay, Quinn, Alex, Chuck, even Julian, Victoria, and Chase who have been around for quite some time... none of them can fill the void for us, that Lucas and Peyton left behind in season 6. We still think of them whenever we see the rivercourt. We still think of them whenever we see Tric, and Red Bedroom Records. We still think of them whenever we hear the characters refer to their বৃক্ষ পাহাড় past. We think of them during each and every important occassion that the characters are involved in. Occassions such as Haley's mom's death, Brooke's wedding, Nathan and Haley's daughter being born, Brooke and Julian's sons being born... we are very much aware of (and even distracted by) Lucas and Peyton's absence during each of those moments. We even still think of them during simple moments, such as a Brooke/Haley friendship scene, and how Brooke and Haley's REAL, life-long best বন্ধু should be there.
We appreciated the start of season 8, when Haley would occassionally write letters to Lucas, telling him how much she missed him. We felt like some of our voice was coming through in those letters. But eventually, those letters stopped, along with any mention whatsoever of Lucas, অথবা Peyton. In "Tree Hill" land, it's almost as if they don't even exist anymore. Yet to us fans, they still very much do.
All that we are asking is that Lucas and Peyton, two extremely vital pieces of the core five group, are brought back for the show's ending. We are already aware of the rumored appearances from Dan, Chris Keller, and even Brooke's father. But for me, and many others, none of those appearances will mean even half as much, as an appearance from Lucas and Peyton would. We could see EVERY character from the past return... but it still wouldn't feel complete, অথবা like an appropriate ending, without Lucas and Peyton. We won't even be picky about it. I understand that it's easier ব্যক্ত than done, for Chad and Hilarie to both be able to return, let alone be able to return at the same time. They have new lives now, new schedules, new obligations, and I understand that. I'm not expecting, অথবা even asking for them to return for the full season, অথবা even multiple episodes. All I am asking for is ONE episode. ONE appearance. ONE final scene between them, and the original One বৃক্ষ পাহাড় group. Just enough to give us some final closure between them, the other characters, and the প্রদর্শনী in general.
Us অনুরাগী deserve it. Chad and Hilarie deserve it. The other actors deserve it. Lucas, and Peyton deserve it. And your show's reputation, integrity, and ultimately your show's memory deserves it. It would be such a shame for myself, and all others to look back on the show's final chapter, and remember no trace of Lucas and Peyton, the two characters who to many of us, always have been, and always will be the হৃদয় of this show.
And last, but not least, I'd like to quote Brooke Davis in a সাম্প্রতিক episode of season 8. When talking about the rivercourt possibly being torn down, she says, "Maybe it's good, that the rivercourt will be gone. When we see it, it just reminds us of what's gone." That's how us অনুরাগী quite often feel about the প্রদর্শনী today. When we see it, it only remind us of what's gone... Lucas, and Peyton. And if we see a series finale without them, it will do the same, only remind us of what's gone, and what HAS been gone... Lucas, and Peyton. <3
