A Note from Me to You; To Prevent Your Characters From Being Bashed..

Okay, let me get a few things down right here in my small introduction: this was made to educated those who seem to have a 'small' issue on making historically and correct "Monster High" characters. I honestly am getting tired of logging unto this page and seeing these crappy, and poorly done characters. (Not only image wise, but "fan fiction" অথবা "biography" wise) আপনি know who আপনি are, so I suggest আপনি read this to help আপনি improve. If আপনি don't take kindly to this note of criticism... GTFO off of the internet, and spare everyone of your mindless "arguing".

First, let's start off with making your character based off an unknown monster....

~ I'm pretty sure that the whole point of creating "Monster High" was to shed new light to some monsters that people didn't really know about. (Or, present them in a way that no one would have really expected) But, in this fandom, most people seem to exclude this whole idea. আপনি always see characters being related to the "common" and "overused" monsters; vampires, werewolves, ghosts, zombies...

If আপনি want your character to be unique, try doing some research and find out about a monster people don't really know about. But, please, dear me please: make sure that the thing আপনি choose to be their parent is a MONSTER.

* A few examples people use, whom are not monsters; gods/goddesses, murderers from movies/past, angles, sirens, nymphs, dryads, fairies, animals...

Now, let's get some of your facts straight...

~ While your finding their parent, make sure that আপনি make their son/daughter historically and physically correct. আপনি don't want them to be related to a basilisk and have যেভাবে খুশী wings and প্রণয় সঙ্গীত they would have never heard of during their time of existence.

Let me use a common example people do; with vampire characters, people usually make them up to 1,500-2,000 years old, right? Well, if they're going to be that damn old make their background, interests and likes what it would have been like during those spans. আপনি just can't make them like, I don't know, Lady GaGa and leather when they're most likely from the Victorian era.

And they don't all have to be related to DRACULA. For Christ's sake, Dracula cannot have children, do আপনি understand that? (This is what bothers me with Draculaura as well... why did he bite her of all children?) Anyways... starting to get off topic...

The আরো correct with their parent the character is, the least likely you'll have to worry about them being bashed.

Now for their family/relationship issues...

~ Please, please, please, please, please do not make them related to canon/main characters from "Monster High"! This only causes big problems, and big gaps in their backgrounds. Making them 'friends' - alright. But, related? No.

Now, relationships... I can understand if আপনি make your character like one that isn't in a relationship, but if আপনি make them get into one with a character that's already in one... HELL TO THE NO.
I especially hate it when the creators just make up these reasons for the actual couple to break up. "oh i মেটে রঙ্গবিশিষ্ট luv yhu anymor!" অথবা "u cheeted wid me on her?? u btch!!" NO. It does not work that way. আপনি cannot just make, I don't know, Draculaura and Clawd break up because আপনি want your character to be with him. Give a good reason why their breaking up, not just "oh luk, tht gurl is so prtty! bye Draculra!" NO.

I'm sorry, but - just keep away from anything having to do with the canon characters; it just messes up your whole character.

Now for presentation, kiddies!

~ Please, if you're going to make an image of your character; use a damn base. That is what they're there for. Just coloring over an image of a canon character is not only lazy, but it just looks awful. If আপনি want people to like your character, at least make them look good.

And if you're using a base... please credit the one who made it. I cannot stress that enough. If আপনি take their base, use it without crediting, it's like stealing - would আপনি like it if someone took an image that আপনি made and didn't credit you?

Be open-minded to the opinions of others, please.

~ Okay, seriously, if someone takes their time, out of their দিন to give your character a fair review/critique - don't last out at them just because they ব্যক্ত a few things were wrong! Doing that will only make আপনি seem like some rude, and narrow-minded dick head that can't even take a review.
If আপনি can't handle someone giving their honest opinion on a character that আপনি made - get off of the internet, like, seriously now. If আপনি can't handle a review that will help আপনি improve the initial outcome of your character - just don't even bother posting it here, on the wonderful, biased world of the Internet.

Thank you[/b] I am tired of seeing any damn vampire characters... seriously, there are hundreds of monsters out there that you can use that would make great parents for characters. All you need to do is move yo' lazy ass hands and do some [u]research.[/u] Same with the animals - I mean, seriously? Since when is a bee, or a butterfly a monster? If you're going to make them related to some form of insect, at least put "were" at the front to make them seem like you put a tad but of effort making them.

HelloKitty_Love Its also annoying when every vampire character is wearing [u] Red & Black[/u] ALL THE TIME. The girl vampires always seem to have "Dracu" Whatever in front of their names

November99 *bows down* Every thing you both just said. I honestly am tempted to just stop coming here because of what this spot has become, but you two keep me going. Seriously, this should be stickied to the top of the page and kept there. I'm sick of seeing badly draw (if at all), poor characters and OOC canon characters in the rps.

xMiss-IceQueenx Yes ! Okay I Completley hate when people have so off topic OC's also and even more badly drawn and outlined OC's and I even hate it more when they are not even in the Monster High Profile Format which the original characters are in. And they just add more things to it . Plus I'm a complete fan of doing research on new monsters like how about an Alien girl or A Nukabaki how about a Kitsue . There are so many monsters than just your typical Vampire Werewolf and I also hate when people add the already created characters name into their characters name like Clawdeen's Claw or Draculara's Dracu and Also when people make characters that their characters are related to others that would probably never have siblings like Frankie for instance . It just surprises me how unliterate and boring people are getting these days when I usually start a Roleplay I make a paragraph and sometimes even two paragraphs but you just can not start on with one sentance. I do try to be nice about things though and I just hate fighting with people. I'm just more of a comedy person than a I'm going to get in your face and tell you this , but people need to learn how to make quality OC's

Yeah, I know what you mean; I am kind of getting tired of getting updates, upon updates of someone writing a damn fan fiction or even adding poor pictures of their "wnderfll oc's!!!11!" [b]Out of character canon characters are the worst.[/b] That's what puts me off most fan fictions/role plays; people make the canons act so different and messed up, just so the plot ends up the way they want it... *Headesk* @MinervaHoot: [b]Jack the Ripper is not a monster. He is a man that killed women for his own fun. He is not in any way, form, or type - something inhuman.[/b]... so, no: you can't make a character based off of him. @xMiss-IceQueenx: I know, and I [i]despise[/i] it when people actually think that they've done a good job when they make those sort of images. Plus - when you make a character on a "dress up" game, take a 'screencap'... that does not at all make it "original". I know! There are so many other monsters out there besides vampires, zombies, and ghosts. Exactly. Keeping your character away from being related to any main ones - is usually best. It just adds confusion to how they became their sibling or how the canon received this sibling.

Rox_My_Sox LMAO @ The pics. Its like most people in this fandom take stupid things (EG: A cookie) and call it a monster. Its like fear my damn cookie monster. It makes me think do they wonder to themselves 'hmmm what would a retard do?' then they present teir derpy piece of shit.

winxlove2 I totaly agree exsept for 1 thing. Monster High is about Misticall creatures too! Devil isint a monster but htere is a litlel devil in the sirie(gets bullied with Taurus(WITH is an Animal!!)So I think About these: gods/goddesses(thats acsiolly kinda mary-sue), murderers from movies/past(MISTICAL CREATURES DA :D afcourse they are monsters!), angles(not really), sirens(like totaly totaly monster!), nymphs(monster), dryads(dont know wht this is), fairies(not), animals(Taurus is an animal!! or horascope sign but still you call it not a monster well acsiolly it IS! )Monsters arent olny about fearings it also of being not HUMAN So that part is totaly not right. November99 ^^ No. Most horror movie monsters and all real life serial killers are deformed humans, who were burned or drowned or something, or just insane people. That's not genetic. And, seeing as how they are humans, that last part of your argument falls apart. Also, Manny is not a tarus (which literally means "bull"), he's a minotaur, which is a legendary monster.

lovebaltor ^ Exactly. Manny is a minoatuar; a monster in Greek mythology that is half man, half bull. 'Mystical' means something most likely symbolic and peaceful - most monsters are not. Sirens aren't monsters; they are women who sing to lure men to their deaths. They may be pests and/or "ungodly beings" but they aren't monsters. Nymphs aren't monsters either; they are women that live in the water. (They are basically water fairies - they only want peace, and are of good symbolism in the stories they are found in) I said that (In my article) your parent should be a monster - or something that isn't human. You need to take into account that just because something isn't human, doesn't necessarily mean that you can call it a "monster".

November99 ^ Same applies to humans. Just because they've done some monstrous things, does not mean they can be labeled as "monsters" in the MH sense. Just sayin, in case someone here goets the idea to argue that.

Anyways, with the way our twenty-first century society is today, you even have six year old's walking around with touch-screen, internet-accessible cells. So, I wouldn't think too much of winxlove2 joining before the age of thirteen.

CuteBlossom123 Thank you, lovebaltor for this article! I think about a month or two I was going to make ANOTHER vampire character but I seen this and thought " I better research!" so I gone on the monster Wikipedia and found the amazing griffin!

bugbyte98 Hmmmm... would the witches from Maelet count as monsters? Just wondering, because I was thinking about an OC...

lovebaltor Well, most witches aren't necessarily human; since they don't have "human-like" features in our eyes. (I.E: pointed ears, long noises, moles everywhere etc) Since they are also magical, I don't think they should count as humans. (If they've done some violence using their magic, that would aid in your characters approval) But I've seen witch characters before that were decent. So, it can be done.
