The Punisher: Netflix finally reveals release date, drops new trailer 

Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), for once, is giving you advance warning.

, the 13-episode first season of the spin-off centered on the fan-favorite character first seen in 

season 2. After months of “redacting” the release date from promotional material for the show, the streaming giant has finally unveiled the date of the series’ debut.

It’s a flashback-heavy teaser, one that begins with Frank in his military days, before heading to present day and connecting all the dots. He’s distressed by what he’d done — which appears to include torturing a man for an off-the-books mission — but even though he shows remorse for it immediately, the incident follows him to New York years later, thanks to Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

The hacker has resurfaced the clip, and he intends to use it to get Frank on his side to take down the organization that sent them both underground. That won’t be easy: Homeland agent Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) is hot on Frank’s tail, but Frank appears to stay at least one step ahead of her and the goons he’s after. “These men,

decide what the truth is,” he tells Karen (Deborah Ann Woll). “The world needs to see the truth.”
