We were anxious to find out what was going on with the Jew. The Saumensch and I walked out and onto the streets, apart at a distance, careful of any danger around us. As we walked over onto Pariser Platz, we saw that there was a public execution today. A couple of Nazis were gathered around a feeble man, short and skinny, who appeared to be a Jew. The Saumensch and I stepped closer, seeing that it wasn't our Jew, but only to be halted দ্বারা one of the Nazis on command. "HALT! What brings আপনি here?" I answered calmly, "We've just come দ্বারা to greet আপনি fine men. Heil Hitler." The Nazi nodded briefly, and said, "Heil Hitler. Have a nice day, and be on your way now. We have business to attend to." We nodded back in reply. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a black-clothed figure, and he was stooping above a Nazi. No one seemed to see him though. Matna and I strolled across slowly, glancing at the peculiar happening. Matna ব্যক্ত to me, "Carls...is that...the Jew?" I looked at her and ব্যক্ত solemnly, "I do believe it is." The Jew was stooped above the Nazi we had just talked to. With one brief salute, the black-clothed Jew swung a broken glass bottle at the Nazi's forehead, and with one blow, the Nazi went down, cold. Matna and I knew that this was no place to be. The Nazis might take us away for questioning if they suspected that we were the ones guilty of the murder. We sprinted down the রাস্তা and locked ourselves in our houses for the rest of the evening. Murders. Twice already. Could it get any worse?
