I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Dream Casting: তারকা Trek: The পরবর্তি Generation Dream Casting: তারকা Trek: The পরবর্তি Generation | SYFY WIRE
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Cactus Groot waves at humans in the Arizona desert; internet goes galactic
The Leftovers star Carrie Coon joins Avengers: Infinity War as Proxima Midnight
Rumor of the Day: In Episode IX of Star Wars Yoda could appear
Dream Casting: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Dream Casting is an imaginative look at the casting process of potential Hollywood projects based on comics and other media. This isn\'t just about what is being made; this is about what should be made, and who we think should be the stars.
, and then a follow-up to fill out the cast for the rest of the trilogy. More than one person on social media responded by saying I should do something similar with
has already been rebooted (although admittedly not quite as I\'d have done it), so
seemed like the obvious place to start. In recasting each role with a modern actor, I did my best to capture what made the original version great, and how the wide variety of performers meshed into such a great ensemble.
Rather than just picking a big star, I tried to cast the new Picard in the spirit of Patrick Stewart. David Gyasi (
) is a handsome British stage actor approaching middle age. He\'s more soft spoken and unassuming than you expect for a heroic captian, but he can be an action star when called upon. And yes, he\'s also bald.
As Bucky in the Marvel movies, Sebastian Stan is too troubled to really get to play the heartthrob many fans see in him. Riker is basically the opposite of that, so Stan would really get to turn on the charm.
Troian Bellisario played a pretty high-intensity character on
, but she\'s in her 30s now, and I think she can handle the serenity of Counselor Troi.
Eka Darville made a memorable impression in a supporting role on
, and can put his own spin on Geordi. I can\'t decide if the visor should be completely redesigned or keep its classic look, but he\'ll make it work either way.
, Diana Agron always possessed a square-jawed strength that\'s reminiscent of Denise Crosby. Interestingly, if this is an all-new timeline, Yar doesn\'t necessarily have to die even once, let alone several times.
Only after making this pick did I realize the irony of casting the lead from
\'s own Mr. Robot. Rami Malek is such an interesting actor with an unusual look; his Data would work really well.
) is a bit old to play Worf, but he\'s such an intimidating yet charming actor that I\'d love to see him give it a shot.
, where she also proved she\'d be great at projecting the quiet strength of Beverly Crusher.
As the character most people hate, Wesley Crusher seems to need the most reimagining. Starting by making the character a black girl instead of a white boy seems like a good step, and putting the very likable Storm Reid (
There\'s nobody else like Whoopi, and this role is almost synonymous with her. However, Danai Gurira (
) is a really great actress who I think could take the reigns of Ten Forward.
I considered taking Q in a wildly different direction, but ultimately I really like the effete, languid trickster, and I think Wentworth Miller (
