No, it didn't work.......it was a travesty to the world that Dan Curtis and all of the actors who dedicated themselves to the original show. Totally disagree. Barnabas and Julia were a natural couple. Josette may have been Barnabas' প্রণয় back in 1795 but Julia was who he needed in his new life.
