How to ask my mom if I can wear makeup?

My mom has sort of already allowed me to wear it so thats not the problem. The thing is that I acted stupid and gave her the idea that 7th graders wearing makeup is weird when she asked me why I never wore the eyeshadow she got me. The truth is I really want to wear makeup and now she thinks I hate it so she stopped asking so how can I get her to think I want to wear makeup without directly saying it?
