It's a lot more confronting than the film, particularly in terms of the violence. However, it definately turned up some good points, and I enjoyed the extra background to the film (I watched before reading)

I usually prefer to read the book first and then watch the movie. But in this case I'm actually happy I saw the movie first. And yes, the book is much more... substantial. Anyway, they did a great job with the movie.

I nearly always read the book before watching the movie too, as it seems like a more natural path to take, when it was the book that came first anyway, and it usually helps me to better understand the film.
However, with American Psycho, I ended up with the movie first because I found the book rather hard to obtain, and who can resist the lure of Christian Bale for as long as a book takes to be shipped in? :)

i love the book. albeit, very disturbing. at times i actually had to put it down. i'm glad i saw the movie first.
the characters were already developed in my head and had a face for a name. the move is maybe 1/100 as violent as the book.

Shame on me, but I have not yet.
Simply because I want to read the original (not the one translated into my country's language), and this version is harder to get.
... If I finally have it, I will most certainly read it!
