What, is it so perfectly natural in order to keep your sorded gay-baiting bullshit viable instead of actually having both men have a good positive relationship as friends,partner against evil? EPaws I am still wondering why humans are made this way. Just because you critique does not mean you hate. Take my son for example. Little Lord Font took it upon himself yesterday evening to take himself for a walk down to the beach. His father, myself, his gandaaaaa all were losing it, even the dog got hysterical and funnily enough it was following Barklay why Jason and I found him because he started tearing down the bluff ....he was going to find his weemanbeast friend. Mummy (points at self) checked him over and hugged him. His father picked him up by the back of his overalls lol...and marched him like a package up the hill and he began to cry lol lol all in anticipation of the hell that was to come. We were angry, why? Cause he could have been hurt. All he had to do was wait and we would have taken the usual promenade but no...mum was too slow. I am allowed to spank, not Jason (hand size and arm strength difference) and we got 3 sound ones on the wingy litle backside. I hope you got my point. You only rebel when you like something. The things and people you don't give a shit about, meh...kill yourself already...not for things we care about.

ellarose88 While I'm totally with you on how crap this story line is with Gwen getting tortured once again, I think from the writer's/producer's pov they are showing how hell bent Morgana is to get her revenge and her throne. So while, I hate that Gwen has to go through this, I'm looking forward to seeing how Arthur handles it and him rescuing his wife and Queen. I may be the only one but that is okay...

ellarose88 Exactly Stacey! I totally agree with you guys at the same time for some strange reason I understand what the producers are doing. It sucks that Gwen is always at the receiving end and no one ever holds Morgana accountable for her actions (which pisses me off to no end). But I know that Gwen will get through it because she is strong and Arthur will save her.

kbrand5333 I was just going to further chime in that if Gwen is abused AGAIN this year, at LEAST let us see her get properly angry. Like bitch-I'm-gonna-throw-down angry. They take the one truly, TRULY good character, the moral center of the show, the Heart of Camelot and run her through the ringer time and again, and she bounces back allegedly because of this goodness. Well, everyone has a breaking point. Let her get mad. Let her throw something and break it (doesn't even have to be thrown AT anyone). Let her GO OFF on Morgana and anyone else that may be in her way. Let her be a little badass. The fans would go apeshit. The ratings would skyrocket. I promise. The season is young. I am willing to wait and see what they deliver. I am actually kind of looking forward to the drama with Gwen and Morgana because I know Angel will KILL it, acting-wise and make Katie look even more like the one-dimensional, cartoonish, melodramatic villain she has proven herself to be.

Tassja_G I agree with the spirit of outrage about Gwen's abuse. I'm not excited for any of the Gwen-torture scenes, like the ones of her in the lake that were leaked etc. But I can't believe we're all ok with calling parts of the fandom 'jabba the hutt' and blaming their lack of 'man bait' status for their shitty actions. Firstly, not everyone in the Merthur fandom is straight, and not everyone cares about being 'man bait'. Secondly, how many of us here as women have felt inadequate about our bodies at some point? I know I have. Targeting very real insecurities people have is harmful. It's the kind of shit Arwenites call out the Merthurs for all the time. I'm shocked and disappointed that so many in this community are co signing these sentiments without pointing out how problematic they are.

famfan Honestly I would just take what EP says and expand it to the whole rinse and repeat status of the show. The PTB have a standard formula for Merlin at this point, Merlin +Arthur+Banter+Gwen+ Torment+ random princess+ magic creature+ Morgana taking over Camelot = a series of Merlin However ,Gwen tends to be among the best parts of the show. So as much as I hate seeing her mistreated, my emotions are totally invested when she is. Hell last year damn near killed me. All in all, the writer on this show are unimaginative. They really could stand to step up their game. The legends they are pulling from are rich, I can't understand for the life of me why they are so stagnate in their writing. I am however going to wait to see how this year plays out. The writing of Gwen so far has been pleasantly surprising. She has been one of the true highlights of the show....going to keep my fingers crossed and see how this all plays out.

EPaws Tassja everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is all I will say on that point. I am not under any circumstances taking it back because it is actually founded on fact. Did you know there are actual studies on the slash fandom, not people who are talking about relationships some of which happen to be male/male and female/female but slash and as you know there is a difference, Oh I put it bluntly and possibly cruelly but it is on point. Totally, re psycho-sexual influences, the need for self insertion into characterizations, how they choose to deal etc etc etc. Now to what matters. I want Guinevere to own the moment. Guinevere is a damned interesting character. So is Merls, so is Arthur and by the way so is Morgs, when written along the lines of who she is in lore. Someone missed that detail entirely and destroyed an epic ante-hero about oooooooooooh season 1 and it just got worse. I'm done with the subject. As I said to someone who I care about, you argue when it serves a purpose. Otherwise, not. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You might like this one as Gramps said. Since the writers like to recycle plot points, I hope after Gwen is saved and disenchanted Merlin (or Dragoon) strips Morgana of her powers again. Without her magic Morgana ain't crap. That way Gwen will be able to give Morgana the beatdown she deserves.

HMGwen Here's another bit of poetic justice: Some of Camelot's magical community turns on Morgana. Uther started the Great Purge because he blamed magic (wrongfully) for Ygraine's death. Fearing that Arthur would start a bigger purge if Gwen is fatally harmed, some with magic can combine their powers to PERMANENTLY strip Morgana of her magic and turn her over to Arthur. Morgana's reign of terror ends with a swing of the headsman's axe. The end.

Tassja_G So when Merthur/Armor shippers call Gwen 'ugly' and use all manner or racist/sexist language, are we supposed to excuse them because 'opinions are like assholes and everybody has one'? And I'm sorry I wasn't aware shipping A/G was some kind of warfare where we deploy harmful weapons in the name of making a point. I'm not arguing with your basic point, which is that Gwen shouldn't get continuously stripped of her agency, and yes I'd love to see a proper Gwen/Morgana confrontation. But I'm not and will never be ok with using fat-shaming/ body shaming and ableism to attack parts of the fandom, yes even the vile racist/sexist parts. I'm not asking for a show of street cred here, we all do we what we do. Why do we have to resort to similar tactics to the Merthur fandom to make our point? Body shame is real, people are triggered by it. I'm aware of the research on slash fandom, and sadly many of them are young women who're so insecure about their identities (thanks to media and sexism) they self-hate and identify with the white male characters as a way to feel desired and powerful. I know cos I've been there with white women characters. These insecurities are fuelled by things like body shaming and fatphobia, and I'd rather call out the TPTB and hold THEM accountable than attack other women using issues we ALL suffer from. We can call out the shitty fandom without resorting to shitty tactics ourselves.

Melisey I still think you got your point across Stacey, that it is not ok to use your own insecurities to pull down others. And sadly it is often human nature to do so. We feel insecure about ourselves. Instead of dealing with that, humans try to bring down others to feel better about themselves. When people constantly attack Angel or Gwen, who is so talented and bright, there is no other explanation. We all have our insecurities, but it doesn't give us the right to try and put down others. Maybe it is time for someone to say stop using your own insecurities whatever they may be, to badmouth what is great about others. Kim I agree with you, let Gwen be angry, let her not accept that people are trying to walk over her. She can be badass when protecting others. They should let her stand up for herself.
