‘Arrow’ and ‘Flash’ Spinoff Casts Franz Drameh as Cybor … Wait, Who?
’s Atom-centric teamup spinoff, the major additions of its core team shed a great deal of light on the CW super-series. Now, the third and final DC hero has been added to the ranks, casting
star Franz Drameh as … okay, well, he’s not Static, and he … maybe sounds like Cyborg?
According to reports, Drameh will play the role of Jay Jackson, a former high school football star who lost out on a chance to go pro after an injury. Now an auto mechanic, Jay finds a surprising affiliation to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew. The original casting report described the character as “a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.”
Given that the character had supposedly never been depicted in live-action prior, many believed that the third member of the team would turn out to be Virgil “Static” Hawkins, a popular African-American hero with a tendency to wisecrack. The “Jay Jackson” description also sounds an awful lot like DC’s Cyborg, in which Victor Stone is often depicted as a football star with a connection to S.T.A.R. Labs. That said, Ray Fisher is slated to play the role in
Thus far, we know the series to include Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Martin Stein (Victor Garber), Ciara Renee (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Caity Lotz’s character, and time-traveler Rip Hunter (
alum Arthur Darvill). Recent rumors have suggested the series to be titled
finales, but could Franz Drameh’s Jay Jackson be a smokescreen? How else should The CW handle its spinoff team?
