Endometrial ablation helps slow periods and helps correct heavy flow. Tubal ligations (or tube tying) is a permeant birth control. It prevents pregnancy.

Ohhh, thanks for explaining.

Since I understand now: I don't see why not. It doesn't affect me at all, so go for it.

If men can get vasectomies at any age whether they have kids or not, women can choose to get a permanent birth control method at any stage in life too.

@Shadow No problem!

@uploaded Exactly. Plus women know their bodies. Endometrial ablation Can also be used to treat medical conditions like endometriosis (extraordinarily painful periods). I have heard a few stories about girls who had to fight doctors to get diagnosed with endometriosis and were written off as just being melodramatic about periods. Sometimes women know their own bodies.

Another aspect is someone like myself; I know 100% that I don’t want to have kids. Frankly, considering that, I have no use for periods. Honestly I’d like to just get a procedure done and be done with it. But from what I hear it’s hard for people who have conditions like endometriosis to convince doctors to preform these procedures more or less someone who just wants to be rid of periods...

Endometrial ablation would help women with endometriosis. And men are allowed to get vasectomies once they turn 18 without much, if any, trouble. But most doctors will not perform a tubal ligation or hysterectomy unless women are over 30 and have 2 or more kids, and sometimes not even then. Why shouldn't we women be able to get sterilized if we want to be? As a single 23 year old woman who doesn't want kids, this would be a good alternative to having to use the pill, condoms, or IUDs till I hit menopause.
