Aurora is a damsel in distress but it's actually not her fault. She was cursed since she was a baby so she was always in distress. She also was hypnotized so again it wasn't her fault that she was in distress and fell under the sleeping curse. Phillip on the other hand gets captured and is constantly having to be saved by the three good fairies. I mean not only do they help him escape from the dungeon but whenever there's even a little obstacle they help him. They turn arrows into flowers, boulders into bubbles, and some kind of toxic and deadly liquid into a rainbow. They even use magic dust to help him get across when the bridge breaks. In fact, he actually gets his cape caught on some thorn's and they have to save him. He can't even get himself free from some thorn's. On top of that they're the ones who really defeat Maleficent by enchanting the sword and saving his butt. If it weren't for them he'd be a deep fried snack for Maleficent. At least Aurora has an excuse but he really doesn't. He doesn't even really defeat the villain.
I am in between. Phillip is definitely a tool for the fairies, but we are not supposed to see him as a DID. He does need help, but he did more than Aurora at the same time, and saved her. I am eh on the entire thing.
The fact that if the fairies didn't enchant the sword just throwing it at the Dragon wouldn't have really done anything. They're the ones who really defeated the dragon and saved the day, not him.
I knew who it was too.
It was still Philip who had to fight the dragon and rescue Aurora, and i imagine he still would have tried to do both things even without the fairies' help, which he hadn't even asked for, it was given to him.
