This isn't meant to be targeted towards ApplesauceDoctr's poll, I'm just speaking in general here.

Lol but really, yes. though sometimes people who are ignorant about the movies and just seem to have this weird anti-princess complex they've gotten growing up as 'one of the guys' or something often generalize all of them as damsels, but they never seem to mean it about Poca, Tia, Rapunzel and Mulan. but the older 3 definitely get this way too much. and it's so ironic because in reality they get some of the least amount of help from men (which there's nothing wrong with of course). Cinderella is helped by almost no one, the other two can do nothing about their curses. But- and I'm NOT bashing them when I say this- all of the modern girls except maybe Pocahontas get rescued by a man at least once, some of them several times, and often because they got themselves in trouble. So why do this get ignored about them while mainly the Classics are attacked?

Because if needing a man's help makes you a 'damsel', a word I'm really starting to hate, then by that logic, the modern ones are bigger damsels. I see nothing wrong with needing to be rescued, though.

It personally doesn't bother me because the Renaissance princesses and onward have all been more independent, or at least *wanting to be* independent. The earlier princesses didn't necessarily express that and weren't quite as proactive as the newer ones.

But yes! and BTW I don't think being a damsel in distress is a bad thing.
