She got legs in order to be physically able to get around on land, which she'd always longed to spend time on and where Eric happened to be. She didn't get legs because she thought Eric would like her better with legs :/.

She changed because she's a weeb for humans and their culture.

Eric was a part of her decision, definitely, but her primary motive was that she didn't feel at home in the sea and had always wanted to be human.

She already want to be a human before met Eric. She feels that the human world is better wotld for her as she is unsatisfied in the sea. Her meeting with Eric however, is the biggest motivation for her to leave sea and being a human.
