I like the name Ariel, but I find it random. It means "Lion of God"....I know alafastanzio gave an explanation, but, although the other princess' names seem to have obvious meanings.

I still like Ariel better than the others...it just sounds prettier to me.

I love the name Ariel, but it remembers me the name of a spirit in Shakespeare's "The Tempest"... for a mermaid I like the name Marina!

Marina is too predictable, in my opinion. Even the anime version of the little mermaid was named Marina. If a character has anything to do with the ocean, the obvious name to go with is Marina. Like with Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Sinbad's love interest loved the ocean so her name was Marina. Though, come to think of it, they named the villain in Ariel's Beginning Marina too.

Something semi-exotic and yet still ending with an 'A' so that it avoids the harsh sound that some names exhibit. For example Dorothy has a harsher sound than say Aurora. Plus, its just a pretty name in my opinion... ;)
