Yeah, the ideals of modern feminism and the expectations of a woman in the catholic church would not be a good mix. Either you'd have an oppressed girl who is forced to marry someone and if she does the disney thing of follow-her-own-heart it would villainize the church OR she'd be an uptight oppressive prude like Bloody Mary or Queen Isabelle.
