BY FAR! It's FAR superior to the original! I also love Mowgli's Story (Though I really question the filmmakers having a child be around dangerous animals like a tiger, a bear, a panther, and wolves), I like the original animated movie but it's nothing special, the sequel is bad, and the Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book movie is awful.

I rediscovered this recently, after having not seen it in half a lifetime, and was blown away by how good it was. I love it more now than I did as a kid.
