This feature প্রবন্ধ was my english assignment, and for the assignment we had to write about an a representation of Australia, and I choose Anzac Day.

Anzac Day, the spirit and it's future

ANZAC is a word so strong in the Australian vocabulary that it can bring a tear to the eye, a lump to the throat and a feeling of pride just to be Australian. So why is it that the descendants of these ব্রেভ men are being forced to the back of the line for this year’s march in Sydney?

April 25th 1915 is the দিন that the Australian and New Zealand Army Crops landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Against insurmountable odds achieved their goal in establishing a tenuous foothold, on the steep and slopes above the সৈকত of ANZAC Cove.

But in the following months of the campaign a stalemate ensued for neither the ANZACs nor the Ottomans could gain ground. Although the campaign inevitably would fail, the spirit of those who had fought and of those who died has been remembered and recognised for generations to come.

The stories of the ANZAC’s bravery, courage and their unique sense of humour while being constantly bombarded with death and pain were printed in newspapers along with the reports of their terrible losses. Even after পাঠ করা such horrible stories another 36000 men volunteered in the war effort.

Why? আপনি ask that so many would enlist after পাঠ করা the reports? Win অথবা lose, they wanted to be with their mates. They couldn't stay প্রথমপাতা and do nothing after their mates had প্রদত্ত so much. Their country needed them and they wanted to stand up and be counted.

The true spirit of the ANZAC's is a willingness to sacrifice their lives for their country, their pride and their mates.

Ever since the legendary dawn landing Australian's have fought their way through history earning them a reputation for courage, bravery and valour.

And all these years later, with the 100th বছর anniversary approaching, attendance at ANZAC দিন ceremonies and marches are high as they have always been.

Too high says the state secretary of the RSL Chris Perrin "We want to encourage them (relatives) to attend, but at the end of the দিন they weren't the ones who fought in Tobruk অথবা on the Kokoda Trail অথবা the Middle East," That’s true but the descendants are there to march in their relative’s stead, side দ্বারা side with the courageous men who served.

And for the proud descendants to be thrown to the back like an unwanted party is plainly insulting to their relative’s memory. Australian’s are even being discouraged in going to Gallipoli for ANZAC day. Victoria বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় academic Professor Anne-Marie Hede questioned the annual pilgrimage, saying the “hordes of Australian’s”, “traffic” and “Grandstands” were making it unsustainable.
"There's nothing wrong with retreating, after all the Anzacs did," she said.

Even if world peace occurs and Australia is no longer forced to give up her sons and daughters to war, every Australian shall feel some measure of pride whenever the ANZACs are mentioned. And as the traditional recitation says: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
