I know people think that Snape is amazing because of the last book, and I think he's a good person too. But that doesn't change the fact that he was biased against Gryffindors, he treated Harry badly without knowing him, he kept holding a grudge because of the past, and he overlooked some dangerous things. When Malfoy cursed Hermione in book 4, he didn't do anything even though there was clearly a difference. He purposely provoked Harry several times. He embarrassed them by reading Rita Skeeter's articles out loud. He tried to poison Neville's toad. You can't deny that he could be really mean.
