I don't think the intellect is a criteria for the Sorting Hat. Peter Pettigrew and Hermione are perfect examples of this. Peter looked up to his friends who were brave and loyal, he himself was neither. Hermione does like to study and exercise her mind, but she told Harry in the first book that she is smart, but ''there are more important things, friendship and courage'' (I believe those were her words) (Sorry for Necro-ing haha) posted বছরখানেক আগে.
