Do আপনি think the প্রদর্শনী is sexist?

I didn't grow up watching the প্রদর্শনী অথবা anything but I have fallen in প্রণয় with it. I do not think it is sexist just because Jeannie is man's ideal woman and that is what Sidney Sheldon (the creator) was getting at. There is no reason to think that the প্রদর্শনী is sexist just because she is willing to give up her powers for Tony and become a housewife. That is a sacrafice that she wanted to make and clearly, you, snoznoodle, do not understand the fact that she is a genie and as such, she calls him "Master". That is just how that প্রদর্শনী ran, and quite frankly, I believe আপনি are nuts at being offended just because she is mans ideal woman. I mean, geez why would আপনি be offended at the fact that she is blonde, ditzy, beautiful and calls him master? That is nothing to be offended about that.

The answer to this প্রশ্ন is a resounding "Yes!" but the same could be true of all the shows we liked to watch in the 70s & 80s. For example, Samantha in Bewitched, she may be a witch with powerful magic but she's just a stay at mom with a child. The প্রদর্শনী needn't have been so sexist, ditzy & blonde if the plot did not include the geni falling প্রণয় with her master and wanting to be human to marry him. I used to enjoy the প্রদর্শনী too as a kid but now on শীর্ষ of being sexist I also think it's incredibly corny in the অভিনয় style and the dialogue. Afterall, actors then didn't find the character within as with Wolverine played দ্বারা Hugh Jackman rather they simply acted.

I grew up watching I Dream of Jeannie. So much that if my mother put me down for my nap when it was on I would get up and dance to the introduction then watch the প্রদর্শনী as if in a trance.I am 37 years old now and still enjoy the quorky mischief in every episode!

Coming from somene who hates everything that's sexists, and feel that women are আরো then just the wife and mother in sociality, I have to disagree. Just because the points your making don't add up to be sexistism.

Yes, Jeannie is the Ideal woman. she's pretty, and willing to do everything to please Tony, but she does it because she wants too. In fact, Tony hates it when she does stuff for him, and he wants her to be herself and such. where as shows like Bewitched, it's the complete opposite. Darrin hates Sam's powers and wants her to live her life being the housewife and raise their kids. it's revolting to watch that. now, there are some episodes where Tony's trying to make Jeannie a human because of her powers, but that's because Jeannie herself takes pleasing him to far, to the point where it drives him mad. it's not because he thinks he's better then her অথবা anything based on the fact that she's a woman and he's a man.

Now, there's a episode called "The Americanizan of Jeannie." I think that's the title.in Season 1? and in that Episode Tony wants Jeannie to become a tipical american woman. but in the end of the episode he comes to realize that it doesn't matter what she's like, because she's Jeannie, he doesn't care either way, regardless of the ending, in the episode Tony expects Jeannie to clean house, yes but not physical labor. she's a Genie he expects her to blink it because she can, not because it's her place.

Turth be told, in my opinion based on the time that 'I Dream Of Jeannie' was on the air, it kind of showed signs of not being sexist.
for examples?
-Tony not wanting her to give him anything.
-Tony hating being called master.
-Jeannie taking control over everything in the man's life.

I don't understand how আপনি could think she's stupid, because she was actually smart. she just didn't think everything through. she was inplusive. that itself does not mean she was ditzy. lol.
also, আপনি have to think. it's fictional. set in 1960-70s. and Jeannie is a Genie. their own goal is to give their masters anything আপনি want দ্বারা nature, which in the 1960 was considered sexy. in fact there are some episodes where Jeannie gets traded to a woman, and she has no choice but to listen to them, because whoever has the bottle, has the Genie, but দ্বারা the end Tony saves her and becomes her master again. so really is has nothing to do with Tony being a man, but her master, and the fact that she loves him. :)

First of all, yes i agree that men wanted a certain woman but it was womens fault for giving it to them. I understand that men were and are sexist but the fact of the matter is that women would not have been put down all of these centuries if they had not been trying to model themselves after what man want. women are always blaming men for putting them down but they ALLOWED them to put them down. just because men want something of আপনি does not mean আপনি have to give it to them. There's always two sides to the story. Well in thoughs দিন yes there was a lot of sexist on tv. but has times changed all that much. but far as Jeannie goes, maybe অথবা maybe not, well would আপনি give up some thing for the one আপনি loved ? in this দিন and time no one want to give up anything for any one. we want it all..
what would আপনি give up for the one আপনি were in প্রণয় with to be with them ? in সুপারম্যান 2, he gave up his power for Lois. because he loved her, so if Jeannie giving up her power for Tony is sexist, what is সুপারম্যান when he gives up his for Lois ?

Not in the way other users view it but yes in a differentvway. He treats her like a child and she is his jeanie who gives in to his every command but he takes her for granted. He doesnt marry her and she still stays with him, I find it abnoxous. Indisagree about bewiched because she stands up to darren, she shows that she has a say.
