Louis Tomlinson turned down a role in a Hollywood movie to stay in One Direction.

1D fans will be delighted that the hunk has no intention of leaving the world\'s biggest boyband after he turned down a dream job so he could take part in the rest of the tour.

Football mad Louis was offered the part of a goalkeeper in a documentary film, based on Reading Football Club in the late 1960\'s.

Louis was in serious talks to play a wild goalkeeper, who along with a group of other players in the squad, were renowned for being hellraisers off the pitch.

Louis, 22, had several meetings with scriptwriters in Los Angeles while he was there earlier this year, and they were hopeful that he would sign to deal that would kick off his acting career.

However, sources close to the 1D heart-throb said that after a lot of thought, he turned it down because the filming clashed with the US leg of their current tour and he wasn\'t ready to quit the band like his former bandmate Zayn Malik.

One said: “There were several meetings and it was something that Louis really, really wanted to do. He loves football, so the chance to play a footballer was a huge temptation in itself, but he also loved the script and very much saw it as the beginning of an acting career, which is something that he is considering when 1D do finally go their separate ways.

“But it was just a case of bad timing as the filming was scheduled for exactly the same time as One Direction\'s American tour dates so he declined the offer and chose to stay with the band. He had absolutely no intention of leaving, and he still doesn\'t.”

Louis grew up supporting his local football team, Doncaster Rovers and last year he even set up a fundraising initiative to get them into the Premiership.

His role would have seen him play a talented but party-loving goalie, who along with his team mates, would drink, gamble and flirt with women.

One Direction fans will be delighted to hear of Louis\' loyalty, just days after Zayn, 22, quit the band.

He said he wanted to lave the group so that he could live a “normal life.” In an interview after he dropped his bombshell news, he said: “I can\'t do this anymore. But I\'ve never felt more in control in my life. I feel like I\'m doing what\'s right, right by myself and right by the boys.”

As Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis are playing the South African leg of their third world tour, Zayn is preparing his solo career.
