, Arya Stark has been left in her own prickly situation, and the character’s newfound blindness has required some struggle on Williams’ part.

“I read somewhere that they gave me the option between CGI and contact lenses, which isn’t true at all. They just said, contact lenses,” Williams explained. “So I had to wear these really thick contact lenses that were 16 millimeters and hand-painted so they looked all murky. They were so, so painful, but guys were like, ‘You’re an actress, stop complaining.’”

has passed the plot of George R.R. Martin’s original books, making it the most unpredictable season to date. According to Williams, this was actually liberating.

“I think now we get the opportunity to shape the series from start to end without having to hit any plot points at certain moments,” Williams said. “They have actually made it into a better-flowing series, in my opinion. Particularly for my storyline. I feel like I’m not in it quite as much, but my story flows a lot nicer than it has in previous years.”
