Honestly don't care what they think, but I do respect their opinion. If I wanna see a movie, I'll go see it, if I like a movie, I like it. Just because they hate it, doesn't mean I will.

I hardly ever read critic reviews for movies, I can't be bothered. Fan reviews, sure, but not critic. The only thing I ever read critic reviews for is games.

The only reason I don't really read critic's reviews is because I think they'd stop me from enjoying the movie. For example if they said "Jane's portrayal of Sarah is appalling, she is a wooden actress and not believable" - I'd be watching it trying to see if it's true or not, I'd just be distracted.

Must be a great job to have though.

Most of the time, I don't read reviews of any kind before I see a movie. Sometimes I'll read them after, just to see what other people [critics and fans] thought of it. Usually I like to go into a movie with as little info about it as possible, so my opinion isn't influenced by anyone else's and I don't get spoiled about anything.

But obviously, everyone's opinion is to be respected. And if your job is to review movies, then you must know something about the business. But sometimes critics know too much and they can over analyze things. Sometimes a movie doesn't have to be perfect in order to be enjoyable.

I don't give a rats ass. Truth. I don't need critics to think for me, I never read reviews of things before I see them. If I think it looks good the first time, then that's the judgment I'm going on.

at least the critic in my newspaper sucks! you can't give a romantic comedy one star just because it's cheesy! romantic comedies are suppossed to be cheesy!

I think a lot of critics have lost sight of what movies are supposed to do. I don't usually read reviews either before or after I see a movie. I don't usually care what other people think. I form my own opinions and go from there. If I like the movie, I like it. It's the same every time. I go in with as open an eye as possible so that the only thing I notice is if I laugh or jump or even cry. That's what sells it for me.

But not every movie has to be Oscar-worthy. That's not the point of movies. The point of movies is to entertain, and there's a fine line between entertaining and performing. Oscar-worthy movies are meant to be performed, but they're not always entertaining. And entertaining movies aren't always Oscar-worthy. In fact, I'd prefer if a movie was just there for me to have a good time seeing it so I can come out with a decent opinion of it for myself.

A lot of movie critics these days seem to have forgotten this. So when an action movie or a sci-fi thriller without what resembles a plot comes out, they pander it for selling cheap thrills. And when a drama with really good performances with no plot comes out, it wins an Oscar. Really?

No thanks.
