I remember visiting this website once...
It was called SAG Awards 2016: কমলা is the New Black cast discusses diversity after win | EW.com
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
The ladies (and few gentlemen) of Litchfield have done it again. At Saturday night’s SAG Awards, the cast of Netflix’s
took home the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series trophy for the second year in a row.
“Look at this stage,” cast member Laura Prepon said while accepting the award on behalf of the cast. “This is what we talk about when we talk about diversity. Different race, color, creed, sexual orientation.”
Backstage following the win, the cast continued to discuss diversity, specifically the recent changes made by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to add more women and people of color to its ranks.
“It’s a start but the problem starts before the Academy Awards,” cast member Selenis Leyva said. “The problem starts in the writing rooms, in the studios; the producers and directors and casting people need to open up their eyes that this is a different world we’re living in and diversity is not just black and white. Diversity is universal and it’s a lot more than what we are focusing on. It’s religions, it’s sexuality. So it doesn’t start at the Academy Awards. That’s not the solution. The solution starts before that.”
Costar Samira Wiley, “I think that what Jenji Kohan has done… what you see on TV, especially women on TV, is the silhouette of an ideal that a lot of women cannot reach. What Jenji has done with
, she has put women in front of you, on your TV screen, in your home, that look like a real woman, basically. All of us are from different backgrounds, we have diff stories, we have different body types, we have different beliefs and goals in life. So her putting that on TV I think it took us to see that and say, ‘Oh, people will watch that.’ That is what people want to see, because it is who people are. Who they’re seeing on the street.”
The binge-friendly dramedy about life inside a women’s prison boasts an impressive – and impressively large — cast. Those awarded include: Uzo Aduba, Mike Birbiglia, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Danielle Brooks, Laverne Cox, Jackie Cruz, Catherine Curtin, Dea DeLaria, Beth Fowler, Joel Marsh Garland, Kimiko Glenn, Annie Golden, Diane Guerrero, Michael Harney, Vicky Jeudy, Selenis Leyva, Taryn Manning, Adrienne C. Moore, Kate Mulgrew, Emma Myles, Matt Peters, Lori Petty, Jessica Pimentel, Dascha Polanco, Laura Prepon, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruby Rose, Nick Sandow, Abigail Savage, Taylor Schilling, Constance Shulman, Dale Soules, Yael Stone, and Samira Wiley.
for the award. Earlier in the night, star Uzo Aduba won best actress in a comedy series for her role on the hit Netflix show.
