I think it becomes more of a Harley & Joker movie about abusive relationships rather than a Dirty Dozen movie that you’d expect with a concept like Suicide Squad. Not saying it’s better, but it probably utilizes the Joker better at the cost of a bloated runtime.
Totally agree. They did a great job of ensuring the Joker and Harley didn’t eclipse the Squad. I thought the decision to focus on Deadshot as a moral compass of sorts was the right one
I can see why some of the Joker&Harley scenes would be removed. Many young women would be really displeased with that. That would be more true to the original comics, but it would be damaging financially.
Personally, I like this new development. I’ve seen the Joker being the biggest monster on earth. Maybe it’s time we see his softer spot. I even ended up rooting for them. Next movie, we need to see them going on a homicidal date, robing banks, killing by-standers who would get in their way, and so on.
Watched the movie today. You can tell they’re going for a Bonnie and Clyde feel with them. In this iteration anyway.
If you watch the trailers again, a lot of these scenes are shown, Deadshot staring out at the rain for example. Also, Empire magazine wrote an article about the scene where Killer Crock throws up the goat, describing it in a lot of detail.
It’s also worth noting that Grace Randolph covered pretty much all of the set leaks leading up to the release, one of the scenes I remember her talking about was when Harley points the gun at Joker.
Those three last ones should be in the film, extended bar scene, Joker trying to kill Harley in the Helo and coming back in the subway, these sum up maybe 3 minutes, they should’ve been in the movie.

I'll take all the Boomerang I can get, even if he's being a bastard.
I just want more of the squad. Together, alone, flashbacks, just gimme the squad. (Except Deadshot staring at the rain, 'cause who freakin' cares.) I read a thing somewhere where Margot was talking about how Harley loves Killer Croc, and they barely interacted. We need squad relationships, WB dweebs. (Not that one, fuck off Deadshot.)
Most excited for the Croc stuff, reeeally hope that's for real!
