It can depend, since I get different things from different shows, but for all the shows I love rather than just like it would be (possibly not in this exact order):

1 Interesting overall idea
2 Good writing
3 Good plots
4 an interesting and diverse group of characters
5 good acting (no matter how hot you are)

I also prefer, but maybe wouldn't call it absolutely necessary if a show has all the above, a show to have something unique about it. Like no matter how stunningly written I'd never become anywhere near as attached to something like another 'mismatched, sexual-tension crime solving duo' show as I would to something than hadn't been done before.
Not every show I watch lives up to these (there are a couple of shows I enjoy without really being invested in), but all the ones I consider myself a genuine fan of do.

It depends on the genre of show I'm watching really. If it's a horror show, I just want to be creeped out & possibly see a decent amount of gore. As for comedy & drama, I love intelligent writing. That gives you interesting characters and the best main part of my favorite shows is watching how the characters interact with each other. I'd prefer if romance weren't a major part of the shows I watch as I think it just adds unnecessary drama 90% of the time. Every show I watch and love HAS to have great character interaction.
