The finale promises to be full of death, lies and possibly some hints at season 4 of the Fox drama. Will Ryan be able to hunt new threats if he stays loyal to Gwen? Relationships will be a major feature of future episodes. "The Following" season 3 finale airs May 18.

"The Following" season 3 finale is fast approaching, and the Fox drama\'s producers are slowly spilling SPOILERS for 2015\'s remaining episodes. Major cast deaths, hidden agendas and a possible season 4 villain will all be revealed in the next few weeks.

The news comes to Design & Trend via two season finale spoiler reports from TV Guide and TVLine. Both sources unite to create a clearer picture for Ryan Hardy\'s future in and beyond season 3.

In true "The Following" fashion, the series\' co-executive producer Brett Mahoney recently revealed that major characters are likely to meet an unfortunate fate in the finale. To quote the source directly, "not everyone will survive the season," leaving some prominent FBI hunters and killers on the chopping block. One critical person of interest is Max Hardy, who has already narrowly escaped death several times this year. If foreshadowing is a legitimate excuse, her life may be in danger.

Another secret finale spoiler for season 3 is that some well-known characters may have a hidden agenda that has yet to be exposed. To augment his previous statements, Mahoney also said that not everyone is what they seem." In fact, "one character\'s true nature will be revealed." Speculation on this front remains just as ambiguous. Viewers still don\'t know much about Gwen, but she did seem suspiciously upset to be pregnant with Ryan\'s child. Another dubious figure is Max\'s boyfriend Tom. He\'s spent lots of time secretly spying on his girlfriend, and maybe it\'s for all the wrong reasons.

The episodes leading up to the finale will be just as critical for "The Following\'s" future. While a fourth season hasn\'t been formally confirmed by Fox, it\'s possible we\'ll see signs of a future villain sooner rather than later. That being said, as has been a theme for season 3, the new threat may be hidden from the audience at first. Co-showrunner Alexi Hawley recently said that Ryan\'s future nemeses "won\'t necessarily be as personified" as a major figurehead like Theo Noble or Joe Carroll.

As has also been teased several times, the remainder of "The Following" season 3 will ultimately see the slow destruction of Ryan and Gwen\'s relationship. As much as Ryan wants to create a personal life outside of work, sources tell us that such a transition will not be possible for someone as obsessive as Hardy.

"The Following" season 3 finale airs on May 18. The next episode will be on April 27.
