First off I've been a āĻ
āĻ¨ā§āĻ°āĻžāĻā§ of the Monkees since I was three. I āĻĒā§āĻ°āĻŖā§ the āĻĒā§āĻ°āĻĻāĻ°ā§āĻļāĻ¨ā§ and the music. These guys were my childhood! And I still āĻĒā§āĻ°āĻŖā§ them!
Now, for those that might not know 'Head' is a movie starring the Monkees. It was done in 1969, shortly after the series ended. What is it about? I honestly couldn't tell you. I first saw the film when I was six and even at 36 I still haven't figured it out *lol*
However, I do know that the movie was apparently made to end the group's nice and friendly image (the group's words not mine) but I don't think it worked.
Tbh, I always thought the film was a parody of their āĻĒā§āĻ°ā§āĻŦāĻŦāĻ°ā§āĻ¤āĻŋ episodes. Think about it. Like in the film Davy is a āĻŽā§āĻˇā§āĻāĻŋāĻ¯ā§āĻĻā§āĻ§āĻž and there's an episode where he's a āĻŽā§āĻˇā§āĻāĻŋāĻ¯ā§āĻĻā§āĻ§āĻž as well. And there are several scenes in the āĻāĻ˛āĻā§āĻāĻŋāĻ¤ā§āĻ° that are similar to Monkee episodes. So, for me I thought they were doing a surreal parody. Another reason I feel the movie failed to change my feelings is it's a movie, it's NOT real. They were acting. I've even seen behind the scene āĻāĻŦāĻŋ where their hanging out and having fun and smiling. And āĻ āĻ¨ā§āĻ°āĻžāĻā§ know how kind and genuine they really are. And the āĻ¸āĻā§āĻā§āĻ¤ is so beautiful and amazing! Definitely doesn't match the movie which I think shows they tried to save the film. Plus the Monkees have stated they don't like the film which says a lot. Honestly, if the directors thought they were going to turn people off from the Monkees, obviously they failed. They're āĻ¸āĻā§āĻā§āĻ¤ and āĻĒā§āĻ°āĻĻāĻ°ā§āĻļāĻ¨ā§ are still going strong and the movie is even a cult classic! As for me I am and always will be a Monkees fan! *mic drop!*
