Why not? I don't see it as a bad thing plus it makes it more accessible for people who haven't seen it to see it.

Why the movie shouldn't be in the public domain is because of the Phantom of the Opera 1925 3D: Angel of Music Edition. I mean Torror Films Inc. DESRTOYED a work of art by adding in effects that WEREN"T supposed to be there, and the Bonus Features on The Ultimate Edition are way better. that's why I uploaded "Magic Mummy" to stop people from buying the Phantom of the Opera 1925 3D: Angel of Music Edition. My point is public domain allows people to do whatever they want to the movie, and THAT shouldn't be allowed, They should be allowed to share. though,

You don't HAVE to buy or see the 3D version, and it doesn't stop you from watching/ owning the ultimate edition version either. By contrast do you think the book should be in the public domain? Because that's how sh#t like LND gets made but you're fine with that. I'm not defending Torror Films but you can't cherry pick who can use public domain and who can't.

I have not seen either version on the Angel of Music Edition. LND does not effect the Leroux novel, because it was a sequel to ANDREW"S musical. What Torror Films Inc. did is more like Andrew rewriting parts of the Leroux novel.

the original musical was based of of the book (some what) and because it was in public domain Webber could alter the story anyway he wanted without having to pay royalties and that's how terrors like LND are born. It's still cherry picking.

I'm not against the idea of POTO becoming more accessible, but having just that one version become public domain could be problematic. There aren't a lot of things that are unique to only one version of POTO, so someone might create something thinking they're within the law, only to find they've referenced another version not in the public domain and can be sued. If POTO is going to become public domain, I think it should apply to all versions to avoid confusion.

But what types of changes should people be allowed to add? is more the question I'm trying to ask here
