Chapter 1- The Unimaginable

Kate's POV

New York. When আপনি go, আপনি imagine a nice vacation, maybe a business meeting. আপনি wouldn't dream of having your entire world crash around আপনি as the past, becomes part of the present.

I was leaving the shopping center when I noticed something peculiar going on in the city. I imediately dialed Alice's number. Hearing the ringing echoing in my ear was like torture.

“Hello?” I heard Alice ask, she sounded afraid. Something was up....

"Alice! Something's wrong! People in the city are অভিনয় strange! I was waiting for আপনি guys at the shopping center and everyone just turned into practically robots! Where are আপনি guys now?!" I asked frantic and worried.

Alice's পরবর্তি words were rushed, quiet. She was obviously scared of something. "We're in a taxi, it just stopped. I noticed there was something strange going on. But all my visions are blurry unless there is someone directly involved with me, অথবা any of our family in them. It's strange, We're stopped near Broadway and 7th. None of us know what is happening, and we have no idea if the others are alright. Jasper, Emmett and Edward went with Carlisle to his meetings," she explained. "Um. Kate, I have to go. Just-” I waited after her 'just', but there was no longer another person on the other end of this conversation. Alice hung up on me. She would never do that to me! Broadway and 7th. I noticed I wasn't far from there. I started running, at a human speed of course, to that location. Something was desperately wrong and I was afraid for my family. I rounded the corner on Broadway and saw the most horrid thing I had ever seen in my many years.

I ran through the pileup in the city wondering what was going on. "Alice?! Bella?! Esme!? Where are আপনি guys?!" I was searching every cab looking for them. I heard their voices. Something about a cab driver. I edged closer as to not tip off the person who was holding my family hostage. I needed to call the guys, they needed to help. I couldn't do this alone and they sure weren't going to be able to do much. I heard a loud screeching sound, and I was sure I heard a scream that could have only come from Alice. I ran over to where the sound had come from and gasped. There was a taxi that I had the sinking feeling had contained my family, crushed দ্বারা a bus on the side of the road. I ran over, nothing mattered in my mind but making sure everyone was okay.

"Esme!" I screamed as I approached and saw a large pool of blood পরবর্তি to her. "Oh my gosh, what happened?!" I was terrified. ভ্যাম্পায়ার didn't bleed. "Bella are আপনি okay?" I asked worried about everything and everyone. My head was spinning. I didn't know what to make of anything. Nothing was making any sense at all.

"I think I'll live Kate," Esme told me. "My leg was... well, crushed in the accident. I was able to get out of the taxi most of the way before impact. It doesn't hurt very bad at the moment, I'm sure it will get worse but, I can deal with it, I think we need to get out of here and find the others,"

I nodded. She was right.

Esme's POV

Kate looked at me. She didn't seem to be convinced that I was okay. I sighed and didn't give her the satisfaction of a response to that.

"We definitely need to find the others," she nodded helping helping me up and supporting most of my weight. She started moving forward.

Alice looked at Kate. "I think an অ্যাম্বুলেন্স might be faster," she suggested.

"I think your right," Kate waved the অ্যাম্বুলেন্স down and they put me on the stretcher. They protested as Kate climbed in পরবর্তি to me, "I don't care what আপনি say I'm coming with you! She's my mother!" she told them, lying smoothly.

Alice looked at Rosalie and Bella, obviously wondering how they were going to get to the hospital. I called one of the EMT's over.

“Yes ma'am?” he asked.

“I have three other children who are going to need to come along too, I realize there is no আরো room in the ambulance, but is there any way they can get transportation?” I asked.

He nodded and called over a police officer. “Where are they, ma'am?” he asked.

“Those three,” I pointed to Alice, Rosalie and Bella.

“Alright, we'll take care of it,” he smiled warmly.

“Thank আপনি so much,” I told him.

“It's no problem at all,” he nodded and closed the doors to the ambulance. I sighed. This wasn't the way I'd intended my দিন to end up. অথবা even close to imagined it.

"I'm worried Esme," Kate told me with a deep sigh.

I nodded. "So am I Kate. I think I'm আরো worried about the boys than I am us, we have this situation under control for the most part. But it worries me to have no idea what is happening to them,"

“I'll try to call them. Maybe they know something..." she nodded back, taking out her cell phone.

I nodded again. "Maybe.... Try it," I sat anxiously watching, as she held the phone to her ear after dialing a number.

"Carlisle," I heard Kate say.. "We need আপনি here now. All of you. Something is horribly wrong here. Esme is hurt, she's bleeding everywhere. And there's uhm-" I began to whisper so the EMT's wouldn't hear me, "Something is really wrong. We're all human again Carlisle!" she whispered urgently

I sighed. Kate was being a bit dramatic, I felt better than I looked, other than the fact that I was probably going into shock from the massive loss of blood, that one of the EMTs was trying to get under control.

"Thank আপনি Carlisle." Kate ব্যক্ত and hung up the phone.

I watched the doors of the অ্যাম্বুলেন্স fly open as we arrived at the hospital and sighed. The only two times I had ever seen a doctor, other for regular check ups and when I had been pregnant, the doctor had been, ironically, Carlisle, the first time when I was sixteen with a broken leg, the other when I had attempted to commit suicide. I wasn't comfortable with the fact that it was going to be some stranger treating me this time. I looked at Kate as they started to সরানো me into the hospital.

"I won't leave your side," Kate promised holding my hand.

I nodded. "Thank আপনি Kate," I told her sincerely.

She reassuringly. "I won't let them take আপনি somewhere without me right beside you," she stated. "I'll put up a mighty fight that they will not forgot if they even think about trying!"

I couldn't help but smile. "Thank আপনি Kate. This is a nerve wracking experience," I sighed and closed my eyes, I was exhausted but I didn't want to sleep, I wanted to be in control of what was happening and have at least some say.

"Carlisle and the guys should be here shortly. That is if they're still...them." Kate laughed at our inside joke.

I laughed also. "Lets hope they are,"

The EMT's walked me into a room and shut a pastel patterned curtain around the bed. The EMT's ব্যক্ত a doctor would be back shortly. After they left Kate looked at me, "Yeah in about in an ঘন্টা অথবা আরো they will." she laughed and looked down at her phone in her hand which had just started ringing again.

"Hello?" she asked. After a moments pause she spoke again. “Uhmm... Memorial. On...17th Street." she ব্যক্ত confidently. “Okay see আপনি soon,” she nodded hanging up. “Carlisle will be here soon,” she told me.

"Alright," I responded, starting to get আরো than slightly restless.

Alice, Rosalie and Bella joined us shortly after that. Then, we waited.
