Either can be a challenge, especially if you're going for pure comedy or pure tragedy. You've got to keep up a certain pace while making sure you don't repeat yourself. I personally find sad stories very difficult to write. I'm okay with writing sad moments within a story, but when the entire story is supposed to be tragic, I tend to fail miserably at getting the right emotions and atmosphere across!
