"Aryess!" he called, pulling on his backpack. It held what little he needed, the necessities for the trip. The rest he could purchase with the funds he had been প্রদত্ত when they reached their destination.
"Ary!" he shouted again. He walked down the length of the hallway and rapped his fist on his partner's door. It opened under his light knock. The teen opened it slowly and stuck his head in the door.
His partner stood facing the window, one hand on her hip, the other arm in the গুল্তি ছোড়া hidden beneath her coat. The leather jacket, jeans, and combat boot matched the dark mood she gave off.
"We're really going," she said, as if confirming it were real and not some dream, some nightmare. Her voice was hoarse and quiet as if she has been crying.
"I know," Alek ব্যক্ত quietly. He entered the room and walked to stand at his closest friend's side. A glance to his partner confirmed his assumption: her face was pale and tear streaked. "But we don't have to."

"Why?" he said, letting his frustration getting the better of him. "Why do we have to leave? Why can't we stay?"
"Because it's too dangerous."
"Dangerous? Ary, we are capable of handling this."
"It's not us I'm worried about. They won't attack me অথবা আপনি অথবা Nic first. Totaling my bike was just a warning. They'll go after the ones closest to us. We have to lead them away before they get the chance."
Alek hesitated before arguing back, "The team can handle this. They're strong enough."
Aryess clenched her fists, wincing as the left one strained her broken arm.
"That's what Raptor thought before him and the rest of the Pack were slaughtered," she stated. "That's what my parents thought before they were killed," she added softly under her breath.
"The team-"
"It's not just the team!" she whirled on Alek, fully facing him. He spotted the glimmer in her stormy grey eyes. "They'll go after Declan and Riley and Jasper and his family and Emily! They'll kill Tara!"
Alek tensed. "They'll kill Bentley," he finished for her. Aryess gasped a sob and the other teen put his arms around her and pulled her close, though careful not to hurt her arm.
"We'll come back when we're ready," he promised. "I swear, we'll come back and fight every last one of them off."
Aryess nodded, then pulled back. She wiped a tear of regret, loss, sorrow, and terror from her cheek with her sleeve. she pulled the bag off her বিছানা and slung it over her shoulder. Alek lead the way out the door and to his running motorcycle.
Aryess climbed on behind him and looped her fingers through his belt. The wind tugged at her hair and blew it through the air as they rode toward the bridge out of Gotham.
She watched the alley where the zeta was pass and felt the tears build again in her eyes. She whispered to the wind, "We will be back."
