“Hey guys,” Becca greeted as she and her team entered the secret base belonging to Young Justice.
“What's up?” Wally asked.
Willow came to him for a hug, receiving a চুম্বন as well.
“Nothing much,” Becca answered.
“How's the outside world?” Robin asked.
Ever since the Light had attacked Mt. Justice, Young Justice had been hiding under ground, underneath Happy Harbor. Becca and her team of girl warriors had been their eyes and ears, as well as their cover on all of their missions.
“Peaceful,” Becca answered. “It scares me.”
“You scared of a little quiet?” Wally asked.
“How can I be when you're constantly talking?” Becca retorted. “But that's not what I meant. It seems like the calm before the storm. And I hate storms.”
“There's gonna be a storm?”
Willow giggled behind her hand.
“No Wally. Becca is speaking figuratively. She means that there could be super villain trouble soon. Possibly within the পরবর্তি week.”
“Oh.”
“Why are আপনি dating him?” Erin asked. “Eh. Not my business! I'm going to explore! Anybody wanna come? Nope? Good! Bye!”
Erin zoomed off like a rocket and Becca shook her head.
“Well she only had seven cups of coffee. She'll be fine.”
A scream belied Becca's words and Erin ran in at শীর্ষ speed, hiding behind Becca.
“What is it?”
“Ugh! Bats! It's like the bat cave!”
Becca sighed and face palmed herself. She walked অগ্রবর্তী in the direction Erin had just come from. Erin tried tugging her back, but Becca wouldn't let her. Finally letting go, Erin ran and hid behind Jade. It was quiet for several মিনিট before Becca gave a sharp whistle that echoed throughout the base. It was a sign that everything was okay. The rest of them followed, with the exception of Erin who had to be dragged. They found Becca দ্বারা a few stalagmites. An inside waterfall pooled a few feet below the base and bats were fluttering around it.
“Must be some kind of water source,” Robin deduced.
“Maybe. Most likely the bats found it and have lived here for who knows how long.”
“What are they doing over there?” Jade asked, pointing to a group of bats.
“I don't know.”
Becca took a rope out of her utility belt. She tied one end to a stalagmite and put the rest of the coil over her shoulder.
“What are আপনি doing?” Artemis asked.
“I'm going to check it out. There is something over there and I wanna know what.”
“How আপনি gonna manage that?”
“Easy. I'll climb across.”
Becca moved to the দেওয়াল and started climbing. She was climbing in an upward diagonal. The going was slow as she searched for handholds and footholds. Looking down every once in awhile, Becca eventually got over to the other side, just to the right of the waterfall. She tied the other end of her rope, waving the others over. All but Robin went over. Becca looked at her boyfriend, seeing the masked fear on his face.
“You guys go ahead. I'll get Robin,” she assured.
Becca waited till they had started off before stepping onto the rope. If she were to admit it, she was scared. She hadn't climbed a rope since she was in the circus. And that was several years ago. But she balanced perfectly and slowly made her way across. She jumped onto the ground and took Robin's hand.
“It's okay. I won't let আপনি fall,” she whispered.
“I'm not going to do it.”
“Robin...nothing is going to happen.”
“I can't do it.”
“Yes আপনি can. আপনি have nothing to fear.”
“I'll fall.”
“No আপনি won't. Look at me.”
Robin brought his gaze to hers. It was calm, reassuring.
“I won't let আপনি fall. C'mon.”
Becca started to slowly সরানো away, her hand still holding his. She looked away for a quick সেকেন্ড to step onto the rope. With a gentle tug, her hand started to slip from his. But Robin started forward, stepping closer to her. Becca smiled at him and continued slowly on her way. She almost হারিয়ে গেছে her balance when Robin stopped at the rope, but she quickly regained it. Taking another step, Becca's hand slipped away again. Her eyes were soft and encouraging as Robin stepped onto the rope cautiously. Becca rewarded him with a smile. Slowly, they walked on the rope, their gaze locked on each other and Robin holding her hand desperately. Becca laughed quietly when Robin stepped on solid ground.
“You did it,” she praised.
“Only because আপনি were there.”
Becca rolled her eyes, but hugged him tenderly. He returned the embrace before the two continued on their way. They reached the others, who were staring at the group of bats.
“I don't have a single clue as to what their doing,” Megan said.
“I'll look,” Becca volunteered.
“Have at it, fearless leader,” Erin teased.
Becca smiled and, once again, climbed upward. She was halfway up when she stopped and took out her binoculars. Peering through them, she spotted a strange object.
“What do আপনি see?” Erin asked.
“I'm not sure. Hang on.”
Becca climbed up further, moving around the flying bats. When she saw what they were hovering over, she called down.
“It's a closed door! Like an exit!”
“Where does it go?”
“I don't know Erin. It's closed!”
“Oh. Yeah.”
Becca smiled and shook her head. Setting her feet, Becca released her hands and turned the handle slowly. The door creaked open, moonlight flooding in, and the bats flew out in a hurry. Becca cautiously poked her head in then inched the rest of her body inside. After a মিনিট অথবা two, Becca came back to the door, her face alight with excitement.
“You have to come see this!” she exclaimed.
“What's up?” Wally asked.
