So, obviously these have been done since the beginning of the website, but recently the "are আপনি a male অথবা female অনুরাগী of anime" মতামত have been trending again, it seems. It seems a lot of people here still aren't completely educated on the subject of gender, so I'm going to try my best to clear it up for the participants here who don't know. I suppose you're not to blame because most of আপনি probably simply never learned. I didn't used to know about it, either, and that also wasn't my fault.
First and foremost, male and female are NOT the only genders. Gender isn't just a matter of the body আপনি were born with, it's wholly a matter of identity. Of course, আপনি could also know that concerning the male and female genders, there are those who still identity as male অথবা female but it may not correspond to the body they were born with. For example, someone may have been born with a "male body" but feel that they are female on the inside, and on the road to self discovery can find that their true identity is indeed female despite the body they were born with. For anyone who doesn't know about that, those are referred to as transgender people. And people who DO identify as the gender they were assigned at birth are known as cisgender people.
BUT, let's go into genders OTHER than male and female.
The most important term to bring up here is "non-binary".
Non-binary: Non-Binary Genders are gender identities that don't fit within the accepted binary of male and female. People can feel they are both, neither, অথবা some mixture thereof. Source: Gender Wiki
আপনি can kind of look at this matter like a color spectrum. See, there are the রঙ of red and blue, but not all other রঙ are a variation of purple. Gender identities can be viewed in much the same way, I think. What that means: red and blue represent the male and female genders. Variations of purple are found between red and blue, but plenty of other রঙ can be found outside of there. There are people who feel that they are somewhere in-between an identity of male and female, but not everyone is going to feel that they exactly fit there. Again, always remember that gender is a matter of identity, not your body!
There are those who identity-wise posses a lack of gender. These are known as agender people. Those who are agender have no gender identity অথবা gender expression, often identifying just as a "person" rather than a "gender". That being said, if asked of their gender, they may say that they're simply a person.
There are those who identify with two genders. These are known as bigender people. They can identify as both genders at the same time, অথবা alternate between the two. The two genders that they identify with don't have to include male অথবা female, just any gender on the gender spectrum they feel comfortable with. Sometimes they'll use a different persona for each gender in order to feel আরো comfortable in different situations.
Genderfluid people are those who have no fixed gender identify found on the gender spectrum. Basically, they change genders depending on under which identify they feel comfortable at the time. It typically defined mostly as a psychological gender identity and not so much defined দ্বারা behavior/appearance choices/etc.
Androgyny is when a person possesses both masculine and feminine traits. This can go for both physical and psychological traits. In some cases this can apply as their gender identity, but in others, those who seem androgynous can still identify as separate gender identities.
Intersex is when a person's reproductive অথবা sexual anatomy doesn't fit in with the conventional male অথবা female definitions. Often times if this is noticed in শিশুরা doctors will operate on the intersex individual in প্রশ্ন to make them appear just "male" অথবা "female" when the শিশুরা are too young to give consent to this. In some cases this is only noticed when the individual is older and experiencing the developments of the body brought on দ্বারা puberty. This also could and could not relate to a person's gender identity depending on the person.
Neutrois can be taken as similar to agender, is অথবা commonly viewed as being similar to agender. It means "non-gendered class" and is considered as a non-binary gender, and typically seen as being similar to being of "neutral gender".
Polygender is when one possess multiple অথবা আরো than one gender identity at once. For example, they may have the identify of male and female as well as a third identify of neutrois.
So, আপনি see, there are plenty of genders outside of male and female!
