Higurashi is amazing. <3 Another is pretty good as well, same with Mirai Nikki.

Had to add Hell Girl. I'm not much of a horror fan (unless you count Hellsing or Vampire Hunter D as horror), but Hell Girl has some nice suspense, serenity, creepiness, and beauty.

Death Note because I've read a lot of the manga & watched some of the anime,then would be Higurashi,Mirai Nikki,Jigoku Shoujo/Hell Girl and Elfen Lied.

Death Note rules, but i guess i don't really consider it a horror anime.

I say Death Note I did try to watch Another but it was to scary so since I watched Death Note I will say this is a horror anime

I really don't think Death Note is horror. I'd consider it dark, but it's more mystery than horror if you ask me.

Death Note is my favorite anime, but it is not a horror anime. My favorite horror anime is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
