Can the অবতার have kids?

I heard that if the অবতার has kids he loses his powers, but then again Zukko's grandfather was an অবতার right? So how does that work out?

Korra is not Aang's kid. Aang's kid isTenzin(boy), who will be helping Korra in her journey
