Michelle is the daughter of a man whose remains was one of their cases in the 4th season. It turns out that this man was one of Cam's old boyfriends and when Michelle was very young, Cam used to be part of their family. Since the man died and Michelle had no other family, Cam decided to offer to be her legal guardian.
