it's a tie between willow and tara and buffy and spike. with willow/tara it was just like "woah!" and with willow's uncontrollable crying, and tara last line "your shirt." made it one of the most dramatic (and sad) deaths. but of course buffy/spike, buffy telling spike she loves him but he doesn't believe her...i can't pick!

EDIT: i just randomly decided to pick willow and tara.

i've picked. Tara's death broke my heart, but this was just ridiculously sad....

God for bid, all these hard questions, man its making head to explode, LOL. All the above, I pick "CHOSEN", because it the saddiest moment than "BANGEL" No offense to all the Bangel Fans, but Buffy really show how much she loves Spike than Angel.

But, after the epsiode Becoming PT 2, Buffy killed Angel to save the world, she did know that Willow would get his soul eventually, the soug in the end of the epsiode was a very good song for Bangel. Spuffy's song was about a battle, see the differences between "CHOSEN" & BECOMING PART 2 ARE....

"SPUFFY"
During the great battle of the The First, Buffy hold Spike's hand while he was on fire, and when Buffy said she loves him, he said the same words that Buffy would say to him over again, and but he said he wants to see how it ends. After Buffy's last word on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was "Spike".

"BANGEL"

When Buffy & Angelus were fighting, Buffy was about to kill him, but Willow's spell work to get his soul back, she kiss him to tell him she loves him and killed him to send him to hell.

My opinion is that Buffy saddiest moment with either Spike or Angel it would be Spike because it was true love.

i think both buffy and spike and buffy and angel were sad because you knew what was coming, i have to agree with adwbuffy that spike's was sadder more so because of their history and that his was a knowing scarifice where they was both aware of what was happening

but tara and willow was just.....if anyone was ever soul mates it was these two, plus the fact that they had just patched things up and with out sounding cheesey were as happy as could be where as buffy, angel and spike were all on hard times and all prepared for one of them to die unlike willow and tara who seemed in their own happy bubble upstairs
it was also the fact that it was tara too who really had never done anything wrong to anyone where as angel(us) and spike...well i don't need to tell you guys that at some point they need to pay their dues

Agreed pretty much with debs. The other two were sad, but with Spike there was also this feeling of pride that went with the sadness. With Willow and Tara, it was the most 'human' death.

For sure, it was heartbreaking watching Willow holding Tara. Also when Buffy talking to Angel, right before she sent him to hell.

i was so sad that tara died i loved her so much willow and tara are one of my favourite tv couples. i was sad when spike died to i love spike to. spuffy are awsome!!! i felt really sorry for will when she was golding tara after she had been shot it was really sad!!!

This one was a permanent death, so obviously it's the saddest. The scene which makes me cry the most, personally, is the Bangel scene though.
