1. Damon only loves Elena because he's been hurt দ্বারা Katherine; Elena is Damon's 'rebound' girl.

Never during any time I watched Seasons 1-2 did I get the impression that Damon fell in প্রণয় with Elena because he needed to replace Katherine, অথবা because Katherine had hurt him. DE got to know each other as বন্ধু first, and when they met, Damon was still mad about Katherine, and remained one hundred percent focused on opening the tomb, getting her out, and then leaving Mystic Falls to live happily ever after with his হারিয়ে গেছে love. Once the tomb is opened, and Damon discovers Katherine was never in the tomb in the first place, he is devastated and grief-stricken (and probably feels a bit stupid too), but he deals with it in his own way - and he doesn't go after Elena. Later on, when he's recovered, his feelings for Elena become stronger. How can he help himself from falling in প্রণয় with her, when she's been there for him at every turning in the road, believed in him, trusted in him when his own brother deemed him untrustworthy, and showed she understands him better than anyone? Damon falls in প্রণয় with Elena AFTER he gets over Katherine, not BECAUSE she hurt him. Interestingly enough, in an interview for TVSquad last year, Ian Somerhalder, who can always be counted on to say something insightful into whatever situation he finds his character in, described Damon's প্রণয় for Katherine as "a figment of his imagination...I will be so bold as to say that Damon's not Team Katherine. It would help Damon if Katherine was gone অথবা dead."
Perhaps people who use this argument are thinking of 2x01, when Damon goes to Elena after being rejected দ্বারা Katherine yet again. However, this theory doesn't add up, because Damon has only wanted to be with Elena all along. The scenes leading up to the D/K showdown in the লাইব্রেরি make that clear: "If আপনি want to forget it happened, fine. But I can't", and "Now I'm hurt." Damon never goes looking for Katherine after he finds out she's back in town, in fact, SHE goes looking for HIM. Even then he's not impressed. I don't think he loves her, but she does still have a powerful hold over him. He kisses her due to a combination of many different factors - desperation, Elena's apparent indifference towards him, his hunger to be loved, and for his চুম্বন to mean something to someone. When Katherine reveals she never loved him, Damon goes back to the one person he believes can truly প্রণয় him, whom he believes does have feelings for him: Elena. Since 2x01, Damon has been প্রদত্ত the chance to reignite his romance with Katherine if that is what he wants - 'The House Guest' is a perfect example of this. Instead, he rejects her. So it simply doesn't make sense to say that Damon only wants to be with Elena because he can't have Katherine, when he so obviously COULD have Katherine. If Elena is only a rebound, and not his first choice, then why isn't he with the girl he supposedly really wants to be with - Katherine?

2. We only প্রণয় DE because of Ian/Nian

This argument implies that our প্রণয় for DE exists on a surface-level basis only. Apparently, DE's chemistry/relationship has nothing to do with the reasons why we ship them. According to this theory, we only প্রণয় DE because we প্রণয় Ian, and because we're intrigued দ্বারা the off-screen relationship Ian and Nina have.
If we only loved DE because of Ian, then technically, shouldn't we also ship him with Katherine, Rose, Andie, Bonnie, Caroline, Jenna...and Alaric?? I do প্রণয় Damon আরো than Stefan, and I won't deny that I think Ian Somerhalder is absolutely beautiful, but it's the character he plays, and the story between D/E that has me hooked. The fact that অনুরাগী think Ian is gorgeous isn't enough to make them want to ship DE. It's all about the story. As for Nian, although I'm glad they seem to get along really well, their rumoured off-screen relationship is just an extra. If they weren't spotted together at all, then it wouldn't bother me. I don't watch the প্রদর্শনী for their off-screen relationship, I watch it for the story between the characters they're playing.

3. Delena are foreshadowing Bamon.

If B/D shippers are to be believed, every time DE have a big scene, then it can somehow be twisted round and traced back to B/D. The 'Hate is the beginning of a প্রণয় story' in 2x01 for example, was clearly about them. And so was 2x12's 'I can't be what she wants me to be.' And so was 2x18's 'I will always choose you.' And so were numerous other things that প্রদর্শনী Damon's প্রণয় for Elena.
I'm afraid I cannot see what Bamon অনুরাগী are referring to here. How can a scene when Damon is telling Elena he would choose her life over Bonnie's even remotely be foreshadowing a Bamon romance? There's absolutely no logic in that whatsoever. Bamon shippers are scraping the bottom of the barrel here, desperately clutching at anything they can to validate their ship. The fact that they have to look at DE scenes in the first place before they can argue that Bamon have a chance proves that the scenes Bonnie and Damon have together are of little worth. If B/D scenes were powerful stuff, then that would speak for them, and Bamon অনুরাগী wouldn't need to look to DE to vindicate their ship.

4. People who ship DE have been abused.

The fact that people can even make a connection between the two is so appallingly sick and horrendous that it says আরো about them than it does about the fans. I suggest that the people who make this argument are the sick ones, not DE অথবা the people who ship them.

5. There's absoluely no chance that DE will happen in the future.

This is a bit silly, because there's no way the writers could keep the প্রদর্শনী running for 6 years with nothing happening between DE - অথবা indeed, SE. According to the people who argue this however, the ত্রিভুজ is nothing but a big fat lie, invented দ্বারা the writers purely to make us watch the show. It was never real, and all we have to look অগ্রবর্তী to for the পরবর্তি 4 years is:

Elena: Stefan, I প্রণয় you.

Stefan: I প্রণয় আপনি too.

Cut to Damon (before he attacks someone,)
I can't be what she wants me to be.

That's right folks! These 2 scenes will be playing continuously for the duration of the show! You'll never have to worry about missing an episode again, because nothing will ever change! Go to class, do your homework, never miss an assignment ever again! In fact, আপনি might as well tune out and come back in 4 years time, because you'll have missed nothing! Oh, OK then, tune in for the last season if আপনি want, but hey, why bother? What's the big deal when everyone knows Elena will choose Stefan in the end anyway?!
I'm being sarcastic here, but considering that DE is one half of the triangle, featured in promo stills, discussed in interviews frequently, and is the one story that most people can't wait to see, to say that nothing will ever happen between DE is a bit stupid, to say the least.

6. Any relationship DE have will be an 'epic fail.'

I sometimes wonder what it is exactly that opponents of Delena believe, as this argument totally contradicts the পূর্ববর্তি one. If people have already ruled out the possibility of DE being together, how can they assume a relationship DE have is doomed to end? This is ridiculous when we're still waiting for them to have their first real kiss, and they're not even a couple yet! What evidence do they have to prove DE will fail? None. Absolutely none.

7. They ridicule any scene DE have together, and say they have no chemistry. Then use it for their own devices.

Normally I would accept someone who ব্যক্ত they didn't think DE had any chemistry. Not everyone sees things the same way, after all. But I'm talking about double standards which are endemic in the Bamon fanbase. They constantly ridicule DE, cackling about how OTT the scene was (like 2x18's 'I will always choose you'), how they nearly wet themselves from laughing...THEN they make fanart using প্রতিমূর্তি of B/D from 2x18 using the words 'I Will Always Choose You', and make manips and চলচ্ছবি using Delena scenes.
If the scenes are that hilarious/awful to watch, then WHY on earth use DE scenes in the first place?? If Damon's 'I প্রণয় আপনি Elena' makes them want to puke, why use it in a Bamon video for heavens sake? I mean, if they want to make fanart and চলচ্ছবি of Bamon using DE scenes, then fair enough, but they should at least have the guts to admit that they think DE have great scenes together first. Obviously DE scenes can't be that horrible for them, otherwise they wouldn't use it for their ship. And if they're so sure that DE are foreshadowing Bamon, then aren't they kind of insulting them when they insult DE...??
Bamon অনুরাগী would throw a party every other week if they had the kind of scenes we get. Take the finale stills that have been released for example. Bamon অনুরাগী would go freaking crazy if it was Bonnie in those pics with Damon. In spite of their apparent প্রদর্শনী of bravado, I believe that underneath, they secretly wish they had our ship. Not that they shipped DE, but that Bamon was the centre-piece of the show, and Bonnie was in the triangle. Even some Bamon shippers are saying that they don't believe Bamon exists at the moment. Is it any wonder they're so bitter? Is it any wonder they hate DE and the fandom with an almighty passion? (Sometimes, I think they hate DE আরো than they প্রণয় Bamon.) It's really no surprise they are so intent on viewing everything DE have with such disdain. What else are they going to do? Admit the truth? Making cutting remarks about Delena is the only defence they have. While I don't like Bamon any আরো than the majority of অনুরাগী here, and have got upset দ্বারা some of the things they've ব্যক্ত in the past, I say, if they want to hate DE and us, then let them. If that brings joy to their lives, then so be it. It's kind of flattering in a way...
